I personally with no mail think he is good as gone , there is no reason for him to have not re signed so all we can hope is we get something decent back aka Bergman
You're probably right. I wonder are there examples of 2nd year players taking this long to then end up re-signing at the club that drafted them?

Just looking at the 2020 top 10, Logan McDonald, Denver Grainger-Barras and Elijah Hewett all took until Feb-March this year to re-sign. All were drafted to an interstate club as well, so similar situation to NWM in that regards.

Plenty of reasons not to re-sign lol? For one - he doesn’t need to.

Also he might be backing himself to get a better contract. I’d argue signing up early is not that smart of a move at that age.

Hope you are wrong but fear you are correct.
Would be nothing better for POS to be correct.
Hear he really likes the club just struggles with the transition. Hopefully he can settle.

Well there must be a lot of dumb footballers out there in your eyes as id say 90% of the players drafted re sign way before they are out of contract

Yeah if as mentioned he's good mates with Keeler and the Poo you'd think that's definitely gonna help him in Melbourne. In fact I reckon it'll be good for all three. Seems a great little bonus of our already good looking draft.
The hope is that he either settles in his second year as a 19/20 year old and sees us as the place to be.

The other is he has held off on signing a new contract with the hope of exploding this year and earning more.

Or a bit of both.

I don't really see any positive in losing him, his potential is insane when you look at all the things he can do... Incredible kick, great hands, good tackler. Even if we got a player swap going I doubt they'd be as good as Nasiah.
Far too much time and space dedicated to this topic.
NWM is mates with Windhager, Keeler and Phillipou, likely others also.
The kid has homesick issues earlier last year but did settle as the season went on.
He played numerous games so can’t complain about lack of opportunities & will likely be an important link accross half back in 2023!

Contract expires on the 31 October 2023. Plenty of time for a new contract to be finalised.

But other than a few nuffies like us, most supporters don't really get back on board until Feb at least so that's why most clubs like to have some news to announce in the lead up into the new season to get them excited and up and about.

Announcing something like NWM's contract extension in the middle of Feb about 4 weeks before the start of the season is perfect.

Don't know where you got that he settled, I have heard the exact opposite.

If he goes he goes , as much of a talent that he is if he doesn't want to be here just get a decent deal done for him if he does leave , I'm not going to lose sleep either way

There are no tell tale signs he is not happy.
He’s been very impressive at training & his body language seems upbeat!

You are correct, he is not unhappy at all with the club, however all through last year, every time he went home, he found it hard when he had to leave.
Re iterate, as far as I have been told he is not unhappy but still very homesick.
We are all hoping he settles in his second year, every chance, has his mates around him, a year older and RTB and his crew coming in, if he can't settle this year, he never will.

IF we do happen to lose him the club has to play hard ball for a change, that’s why we need a hard arse list manager to ride shotgun along side our hard arse head of football!!

They obviously haven’t heard of our cunning plan of finishing last so that we can get him if he goes into the PSD. It will all go pear shaped if we re-sign him.
North also have a similar plan to nab Hunter Clark in the PSD. How unoriginal are they?
