Interesting Ratts goes to the effort to say Gears is in the leadership group but "how that looks" will be determined during the season.

I read into that like they all know he's not going to be in the best 22-26 and will mentor at training and VFL a lot more. Which I think would be the best possible outcome. As much as I love him, it's time.

Thoughts on Billings being kicked out of the leadership group? Looks a bit odd to me, just signed a new 4 year deal and been a member for 3 years, now the team has vetoed him out

They've reduced the leadership group from seven to five - two had to miss out.

Why the group has been reduced we don't know - maybe the votes showed there we five clear leaders, maybe the coaches thought that the extra numbers made the leadership group harder to work with.

Players voted and had others ahead of him
Hopefully Billings takes notice

Must be better leaders at the club

Know what you are saying but would rather focus on Coops and Sinc's and DMAC getting a vote.

What a vote in confidence in the three blokes

Not a problem, very rarely do I view him on field as showing leadership qualities. I realise there is so much more behind the scenes that we don't see, but I just don't see it on game day on the field.
Hopefully he takes it to heart and wants to show the team they've made an error not selecting him by going above and beyond.
