JHF from a battler family. Goes home on a massive contract, buys a beautiful big house for his family. He gets a level of security and connection he was never getting in Victoria. Goes on to be a big star in the competition. Story over! How long into the preseason do you think it was before North realised they stuffed up? No wonder the recruiters jumped early!

A lot of assumptions there based off not much facts.......you should be a journo. ;)

What will North get from Port for JHF? Looking at Ports draft hand you would think pick 8 alone would not get it done, pick 8 and next years 1st maybe gets it done?

Have the Lions already won this year's trade period?

Who knows - its Ralphy and behind a paywall...

This loser keeps doing the "look over there, wow Brisbane Lions" while his favorite Richmond are landing 2 ready to go stars on massive 7 year deals.

It is all a moot point. Ashcroft is the clearest number 1 in a long time. It devalues him, and the system, if he is not given that status,
Conversely it would just be the swings and roundabouts of the F/s nomination .. eg you can stay on the open market, probably be taken at #1 and go to the dumpster fire de jure vs you can choose to go to your premiership contending father's team.

Whenever F/s picks are brought up someone mentions team x got player y for F/s and used pick z for him but he would have gone pick a ... people will still know and remember.

Wil is paying $10,000 for the opportunity privilege to come to the Lions and the privilege opportunity of avoiding North (or whoever else might end up with pick 1 via trade)

Miles Bergman’s name has been mentioned as well as Mitch Georgiades, but he’s a WA so don’t see why he’d want to go.

It’d have to be at least two early first rounders. Or an early first, late first and a starting player.

Danny Daly re. Cam Rayner.
“We don’t let good people go. He’ll hopefully be here for the next 10 years.” 😍
But I wanted 15 years though, our club is now in crisis mode everyone :ambulance:

I think there will be at least a year, if not more, over the course of his career when Horne-Francis is considered the best player in the comp. I think he's an exceptional talent who needs a little bit of time to grow and a good culture to help that to occur.

Did Danny Daly say anything else of note?
Not entirely sure. Stream kept cutting out but I think he said there’s no rush to get deals done.

Doesn’t know when McStay will get done as it’s up to Collingwood but Graham Wright is on now and he expects McStay to get done today.

I agree. As a 17 year old he amassed 18 contested disposals, 11 clearances, 10 score involvements and kicked 3 goals of his team's 6 goals (and hit the post twice) in a losing SANFL preliminary final just over a year ago. The talent is evidently there.

He played periods of games early this year when he would have this desperate attack on the footy, win it through sheer will and then explode out the other side of the contest to get the ball going his side's direction, only for one of his teammates to **** it up with a poor disposal or half hearted effort. He'd then bust his gut to get to the next contest and try and do it again.

He clearly dropped his bundle part way through the year and that doesn't reflect well on his resilience. But it was just so easy to see how that fierce attack and will to win a contest could be harnessed productively in the right environment.

The expectations of young players in the AFL is sometimes often inflated based off some recent individual highlights. He has a long long way to go to be even considered a good player let alone the best in the comp. It's much more than just raw talent needed. Mental toughness and determination are 2 important ones that some highly skilled players don't have and will stop their careers pretty quick. I hope that doesn't happen in this case but its yet to be determined.
