Hypothetical....IF we did the Dunkley trade quickly with the Dogs, for Pick 15 & a future pick THEN Bowes nominated us as his club of choice, say at the end of the week THEN we could take Pick 7 to the draft. Or split that pick for points for Ashcroft & Fletcher. Pipedream I guess.

I don’t think we are seriously in the frame for Bowes.

2021 pick 6 + 2022 pick 5 + 2022 pick 14
for
Jason Horne-Francis + 2022 pick 38

Everything is easy with hindsight and don't want to rub it in but if that really was the final offer from the Crows on the table then turning that down is gonna sting for a very long time. Won't get an offer half as good as that one year later.

I wonder if the Crows dodged a bullet there. Rachelle looks like a gun plus pick 5 for Rankine. And that's without factoring in pick 14

There hasn't been any talk of Bowes coming to us outside a couple of casual mentions by Twomey, and even he hasn't been mentioning us lately.

That 14 ended up being the pick they traded to the Swans for Jordan Dawson who just came 2nd in their B & F. JHF will be likely be a gun but Dawson, Rachelle and Rankine >>> JHF

I asked this elsewhere so apologies if it was answered.

Anyone know rules on de-listing players to clear list spots? Can they be rookies or normal list players? And if we re-draft them do they have to be to the main list?

Obvious candidates would be Cockatoo, Lester, McFadyen, Fullarton on main list.

Madden, Mathieson, Michael on rookie list.

I can't imagine any of them have outside interest so they would be risk free de-listings.

Also set to be 6 players going, so far 4 back in including the 2 draft picks. We might not have any more permanent de-listings given 2 picks after Fletcher would be very late after points deductions, so we'd really be at the dregs of the draft already?

We need to take three selections, including rookie upgrades, at the National Draft which means we need at least three senior spots free for that - plus extra senior spots for any extra picks we want to count against the Ashcroft and Fletcher bids.

We're bringing in Dunkley and Gunston at this stage, both of which will need senior spots.

So we need a minimum of five but probably would take up to five picks to the draft to mitigate the bids, which would make eight.

We can delist contracted players and pick them again in the rookie draft to open up spots temporarily.

At the moment we have four senior spots likely available (McStay, Ely, Mitch, Tom Berry), one Cat A rookie (CEY/Mitch Cox) and one Cat B rookie (Uosis). We also have three senior listed players out of contract (Lester, McFadyen, and Fullarton).
I believe the question more revolves around, how does retaining Lester, McFadyen and Fullerton work, if we delist them initially, for extra list spots.

My understanding is that the players have to nominate for the national draft, for us to be able to redraft them, either in the national draft or rookie draft.

Or they could nominate for the PSD.

Either option opens them up to being drafted by another club.

Of course they could potentially sign for another club as delisted free agents as well.

Whether the assistance package for North was fair or not, to have Brad Scott invested in the process (and then appointed the coach of a rival team) doesn’t sit too well.
Agree, I am not sure why they appoint people who could be coaches again into that role.

Nah, it was broader given he listed Cockatoo, Mathieson, and Michael in his lists, all of which are contracted for next year.

The North future pick, was their second round pick, so pick 19 this year.

The actual trade offer, before Father Son and NGA bids worked out as.

2021 Pick 4 + 2022 Pick 5 + 2022 Pick 14.
for
Jason Horne-Francis + 2022 Pick 19.

Same principal still applies. Those players would still have to nominate for the National Draft, so open themselves up to being drafted by another club, or moving to another club as a delisted free agent.

And delisting Mathieson and Michael achieves nothing as they are already on the rookie list, and we would have to keep those positions vacant to redraft them. Unless we plan on paying out their contracts.

Twomey said earlier today that his understanding was the last deal they had offered after the JHF + 2nd round pick was knocked back they had reduced their pick back demands to a 3rd rounder which was the one that ended up going to the Dogs, pick 38.

Didn't hear that one. Haven't been on trade radio today, until now.

Just how many times have no.1 F/S, academy picks been bid on before?

The $10,000 dollars aside (parking change for a future champion) and making one other club pay full price -20% for the pick doesn't it seem counter productive to tell you new selection they were actually your second preference?

Kind of devalues the outcome of having the first pick if the guy you choose was never coming, it's a converted title amongst the competitive and should never be given to a player from another team.

I think who ever ends up with number one passes on Ashcroft, like Daicos last year.

Lovely for Cam. But ouch. Hope been Keays and others we respect don't hear about that content.

Would prefer if he'd worded that differently. Very disrespectful.
Awww, c'mon. Keays couldn't get a game!!! Who are the "others" you are worried about that DD disrespected. Sheesh....we live in such a nancy boy world sometimes. Common sense should have the light bulb in your head turning on as to what he means when he said that. Are we at the stage where everything that comes out of a person's mouth can be translated into something sinister?
