Guess they are over the draft. Took them 9 minutes total to do 31 Rookie Draft picks..... granted with some passes in there but still.

Know nothing about Jeka, but had a quick google and averaged 5.5 shots on goal/game playing VFL in his first year at hawthorn as a 19yo which is pretty handy, but then got injured and played as a defender.

Wonder whether we see him as depth as a KPF or KPD?

'He was a man child who beat the s**t out of his fellow 16 year olds and hasn't lived up to the hype' is not much a write up.
Was a dominant junior but as you say it was physical advantage.

Was shown to be too slow even in VFL. But recruiting team must see something they can turn around? He is also highly skilled

He is a natural forward I think. Bit of a punt but not a bad crack at rookie.

VFL team all of a sudden goes from top small to decent size all over the ground

I think KPD because if we had forward injuries we would just use Dangerfield/Rohan/Henry from FF anyway IMO.

Reading a bit about Jeka on the Hawks board they didn't like him because he lacked intensity.

As I said on the Jeka board, no greater motivation than being delisted by a club and then picked up by their arch rival - to make a player want to 'stick it' to their old club, and give him the kick up the ass he needs.

I saw him play a few good games, and was considered a Top 10 talent by some in his draft year, so hopefully he surprises everyone and makes a real go of it his second time around.

Think he had a reputation as being a bit lazy? Lacked application. Last chance might fire him up.
Plug him into the "Stengle career recovery machine".... a few spins of that and we'll see what happens.

Jeka is similar to Sav ...talented but erratic
SAv was erratic due to skills and decision making unnder pressure.... this guy seems erratic based on lack of application after being the biggest kid in the game for a season or 2. Will see if the last chance saloon switch thats been flicked makes a difference.

Wasn't he a rookie selection at Hawthorn?

Didn't say where he was drafted, just said in his underage year, and his draft year he was rated by some as being Top 10 at various stages. Obviously didn't get rated that way come draft time - but he did show enough talent that some scouts rated him pretty highly.

From what I understand he crushed it in his underage year (perhaps due to being a manchild) and was rated as a top 10 prospect by some at that point, but by the time his draft came around the following year he slid all the way out of the ND and was picked up by the Hawks at #9 in the rookie draft.

According to the Hawks board he has the skills, but not the application. Doesn't work hard enough, doesn't go when it's his turn to go.

Not saying Stevens will be Josh Kennedy but Jansen never ended up racking up the ball in the VFL. He was a big body but in the end I'm not sure how footy smart he was.

Will be interesting to watch Stevens but I'm expecting he will collecting more of the pill at least.
From memory Jansen had an inflated opinion of his ability and did not have the work ethic. Listening to I think it was his uncle on SEN this morning it sounds like Stevens has the work ethic and will do everything he can to make it. Expect he will be very coachable.

Very bold to predict for 24 rounds! Well done

Given it is a prediction based on unknown injury and form it is hard to argue definitively. What I can say is that if you just a finals teams by the 6 that miss out - this looks like a very good team (4 premiership players from 2022 missing out!)

From my perspective I would be less bold on Mannagh. Hoping you are right (as it really puts pressure on) but I would swap in Knevitt as another preseason (and I believe a couple of extra cm in height he has now) really gives him the edge I think. If Mannagh pushes someone out - due to his speed - it could be a small.

I hope you are right with O’Sullivan - I have no concept at how quickly he adapts. It took SDK to year 3 (and a spot open up with retirements) whereas OS needs to push our coach favourite Kolo.

The only other one I question in the team is Rohan. Obvioulsy if he is fully fit and has the same pace/intensity then he is valuable - I just see him falling of the cliff potentially.

Good exercise worthy of a thread at some stage
Knevitt was 194cms when he was drafted. If he has grown a couple extra that will have him at 196cms. Very tall for a midfielder. If he is still growing then I would expect it to put his development back a year or so as his body will have to catch up before it develops.
