Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Speaking of going down the rabbit hole with massive trades... Prepare to be... AMAZED!

I'll preface this by saying I think what happens with our 1st pick is that we either take Duursma if he's available (and I think there's a chance he might be), or we trade back with the Demons. Because I think our next target is O'Sullivan.

So say Duursma is gone, and the Demons do actually offer 6, 11, F1 for 4, F2 and we take it.
We then we have 6, 11, 44, 47,49, 61, 62. And in futures, we have our F1 and Dees F1. Lovely Jubblies.

Curtin is then likely still on the board at 6 and Freo come knocking. Coz if they don't try at this point, WC trade their 1st to get him and he has no go home factor then. Harder to get him out. But if they get in first, he's a WA boy and a Freo supporter. Could use him as a back, mid or fwd. I think they would be desperate tbh. They offer their 3x F1's (linked to Freo, Port, Pies) to us for pick 6. I'm even happy to give the Pies F2 back if they want. But 6 for Freo F1 is about par. So to get us to do it probably takes the two late future 1sts anyway.

That gets us out of the top 10 this year, but bear with me.
This year: 11, 44, 47, 49, 61, 62
Next year: 5x 1st round picks (Hawks, Freo, Port, Demons, Pies)! That's what I'm talkin about!!!

Then, we can use 11 and the Pies F1st to trade with GWS to get back in to get COS. Same guy I think we were going to get anyway the pick before, but now we have an extra 2x future 1sts to go with him. So we have pick 7, McCabe and Dear this year. And 4x future 1sts next year (Hawks, Freo, Port, Demons). Now we are winning.

After that, if there is someone else we want in the 1st round we can offer a future 1st that matches depending on how high we need to get in. Or we can keep our suite of picks for next year and aim for Baz and King or whoever we want to get in. I'm McLovin it.

Okay, now I've got that off my chest I'll go back to my bourbon. Toodle pip.
Love the extra creativity although remember you traded the pies f2 as part of the dees trade. Otherwise if we can end up with 4 f1s and still take O’Sullivan McCabe and Dear that’s great but likely we would use one of the f1s to come back in after McCabe for Di Mattia it would seem.

Good point well made haha. As I said, happy to use a future 1st to come back in. I’ve said before I’d love to grab Archer Reid to see if he gets back to the hype he had last year. Same with Moir. End of the day, with those future 1sts we would have plenty of options.

AFL world can't handle anyone who is a "different cat" but all are Bruce fans on the back of one song they heard back in the day.

Which song? The ghost of Tom Joad perhaps?

That is really 4 and F1 for pick 1.
I wouldn't mind that.
With the talk of Curtin sliding and confidence that if north don’t take him dees and dogs won’t either then that would likely get it done. Problem is to get those picks from the dees, we would likely have to give our f2(pies) then we can’t trade our f1 without getting an f2 and f3 back. The f3 could come from the eagles but getting the f2 I would need to think about. We could get it but not sure how and retain the points for McCabe.

From a list perspective he adds break away pace, elite agility in the contest and an the ability to push forward and hit the scoreboard. I just see him as the biggest talent and it's not really a list balance call but we would find a spot for him I'm sure. Probably would play as a pure winger or HFF early days

Nailed it. I love Dursma for us, then the Wiz, but wouldn't be disappointed if we drafted this guy above any of the others.

Spoke to someone from North last night. They won’t be bidding on Walter.
We’ll take Wiz. Says his testing for deceleration is off the charts, never before seen. Can go from top speed to slowing down to sidestep an opponent in an instant.

Doesn’t expect anyone to be doing any trades in the first 6 picks. Curtin will slide, it’s just how far before the eagles get back in.

He was very complimentary of McCabe too. Said he was at the game where Will had 30, and was running rings around those who should’ve been much more quick and agile.

The bidding system should get in the bin.

Naicos at pick 4, now Walter

They need to remove the discount (right after we draft mccabe)

Surely he's taking the piss or something under the table from the AFL.

Or is that because they'll bend over and trade picks 2 & 3 for 1?

They traded with the Suns. Gentleman’s unspoken agreement.

I wonder if we are underestimating McCabe a bit. He had a few injuries this year but still showed enough to be rated as a first round prospect and the top rated South Australian. He looks as if he may take a while to build up strength but may have a very high ceiling. I am looking forward to seeing what he can be in 2 or 3 years.

Dunno why people are wanting to bring tew Jiath in, from what I’ve seen he’s a slightly poorer version of cj, who a lot on this board don’t rate. I don’t want to get railroaded into taking every nga and father son for the sake of it. If he falls into our lap, then yeah sure, but seems like the exact player we don’t need to be trading back into the draft for
