Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

I like this thread because it's comforting to know that even if we miss on Harley Reid, we're still getting a gun player
Going to be an interesting year to see who really stands up. Reid is amazing. Watson has shown some good things.

Need the talls to stand up as the year progresses.

I’m a little wary taking overage kids in the msd, have any actually made the jump to good afl players? It seems the best ones (Newcombe, Nobel, Pickett etc) have all been picked up after dominating against men
I know you’ve said MSD, but Tom Papley was picked as an over age player in the rookie draft of 2016

No longer looking like a super draft but just a draft unfortunately.

Every year I get sucked in!
Can one player make it a super draft?

I think there is a game against the blues VFL team in the second week of May that will give a clearer picture of where the others sit. Still a long way to go until the draft.

That's true. After champs it will be clearer.

But from the academy game, highly touted kids hardly got a sniff.

Duursma had like 3 touches apparently (meant to be a top five pick)

Curtin was underwhelming.

Moir from what I saw looked ok but far from a generational talent.

A. Reid barely touched it.

The only highly touted blokes to raise their stocks were Harley and the Wizard.
Early days sure, but it's looking pretty thin to me.

The only 5 to really stand up and looked as good if not better than VFL level from the AFL Academy V Port Adelaide Magpies SANFL game were

Harley Reid - Bendigo - everyone knows he is likely pick 1
Jake Rogers - GCS A - linked to Gold Coast, really quick, was tackling men with no problems, clean disposal ect
Nick Watson - Eastern - who once again showed height doesn't matter much if you have speed, skill and youre slippery, in the mold of a Caleb Daniels
Colby McKercher - Tas - stepping up as a quick outside/inside mid, he and Rogers were the only good mids when H.Reid wasn't in there
Darcy Wilson - Murray - also showing some talent on a wing in the game and has been very good for Murray up forward this year

Moir was terrible, he had a negative result in every one of about a dozen contests, Duursma kicked a long goal but it wasn't in their forward line much, Curtin didn't have a great game, mostly playing FB rather than playing an intercept role, Archer Reid I only saw in last quarter where he got involved a few times, I don't think he played prior to the 4th quarter or if he did, the ball never got near him, I also thought Lorenz had a terrible game, hardly winning any contests or using the ball well at all, Will Green was invisible in the ruck.

Well, at least we get one of them, right? ;)

For anyone who has watched him, is he my big enough to play as a third tall? Competitive at ground level?

And if he doesn’t make it as a forward, could he make it on the half back line? 😉
Likened more to a Jake Stringer type. Doesn’t play particularly tall.

Tough conditions for the talls and outside types.
Hopefully they can show plenty at the champs.

Very smooth mover and super clean.

Probably pick 1 in most other drafts.

We'd probably have more use for him up forward, but could easily come into a club and do what Daicos and Sheezel have done for their sides across half back.
