Yes I get the love for Daicos and Petracca and Bontempelli and as far as KPPs go I still love our old boy and he would still be perfect to build an ‘instant contender’ around but if I had to put together a side just to have one tilt at an immediate flag Toby is the first player I would pick.

I’m pretty
Convinced that half the posters on this site don’t ever watch games of football not involving their teams

Any team that does not have shai Bolton in it but does have miers in it proves my point

Miers for ffs

Given that I've had Bolton in my side for a while and never Miers (I suggested his form could push for squad of 40 only), will you make a concession? Neutrals are merely coming round to the idea that the best creative forward in the league is thereabouts, but that doesn't detract from Bolton's excellent season.

My only issue is that I've had Bolton on a forward flank and he is a SI heavy midfielder, not a forward flanker. But they'll pick the team like that and my rationale is having Bolton on a flank is fine if Petracca is a starting midfielder. We know Bolton is a viable and damaging forward when required anyway. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see both of them ending up on flanks in the traditional format. At least Petracca is genuinely proving his wares as a forward rotation lately. He had a 6 week period where that move wasn't made.

Libba or Merrett Neale has been our best player this year and Lions are a top 3 team but it’s interesting you don’t rate Neale season he’s top 4 in the coaches votes which suggests he’s had a good year too
Merrett has been a top 5 player in the league this year

Yet is still (without counting the weekends votes so it may change) behind Neale in the Coaches votes. As are Rozee, Taranto, Dawson, Bont, etc.

Neale has had an excellent year despite the lesser game on the weekend and plays for a team that plays a low possession game style. But he is definitely around as good a chance for the team as any of these guys

I agree with this Miers has been very good but Bolton is another level player to him.

What if Larkey wins the coleman?

I’m not disputing Neale who is in my side, but Merrett is a lock

Tom Stewart - Harris Andrews - Dan Houston
Nick Daicos - Darcy Moore - Jack Sinclair
Connor Rozee - Zak Butters - Jordan Dawson
Christian Petracca - Taylor Walker - Kyle Langford
Tom Hawkins - Charlie Curnow - Toby Greene
Tim English - Zach Merrett - Lachie Neale
Tim Taranto - Marcus Bontempelli - Caleb Serong - Noah Anderson

Last year's 44 man squad had 18 midfielders, 3 rucks, 12 defenders and 11 forwards.
Due to the Darcy's injuries, I now only consider there to be 2 rucks worthy of the squad and will allocate the extra spot to a forward.

DEF: Harris Andrews, Darcy Moore, Isaac Quaynor, Nick Daicos, Mason Redman, Tom Stewart, Charlie Ballard, James Sicily, Aliir Aliir, Dan Houston, Jack Sinclair, Callum Wilkie
MID: Jordan Dawson, Lachie Neale, Josh Dunkley, Adam Cerra, Jordan De Goey, Josh Daicos, Zach Merrett, Caleb Serong, Noah Anderson, Josh Kelly, Tom Green, Christian Petracca, Connor Rozee, Zak Butters, Tim Taranto, Errol Gulden, Marcus Bontempelli, Tom Liberatore
RUC: Tim English, Rowan Marshall
FWD: Izak Rankine, Taylor Walker, Joe Daniher, Charlie Cameron, Charlie Curnow, Kyle Langford, Jeremy Cameron, Tom Hawkins, Toby Greene, Nick Larkey, Dustin Martin, Shai Bolton

4: Port Adelaide
3: Adelaide, Essendon, Geelong, GWS Giants, Richmond, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs
2: Carlton, Gold Coast
1: Fremantle, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Sydney
0: West Coast
Melbourne really stiff but only May and Viney would potentially be in the picture I think and neither are quite there. Oliver has now missed 7 games.

B: Tom Stewart - Darcy Moore - James Sicily
HB: Nick Daicos - Charlie Ballard - Jack Sinclair
C: Errol Gulden - Jordan Dawson - Zak Butters
HF: Christian Petracca - Taylor Walker - Shai Bolton
F: Toby Greene - Charlie Curnow - Tom Hawkins
R: Tim English - Marcus Bontempelli - Zach Merrett
I: Lachie Neale - Connor Rozee - Tim Taranto - Dan Houston

i’ve only caught a few tigers games this year but generally hasn’t bolton been played in the centre & not in the forward line (beyond rests/ rotations) iirc against the bombers he was in a fair chunk of centre bounces. while they’re similar players they’re used differently by their clubs

My team. :lock: in bold

B: Tom Stewart - Darcy Moore - Dan Houston

F: Toby Greene - Charlie Curnow - Tom Hawkins

Dusty, Bolton and Taranto are in the 44 man squad. But I don’t think any are locks for the AA team. Taranto is slipping a bit and he’s the most likely to get in imo.

Plays the same role as Dusty only those two average 20+ disposals and 1+ goals a game in the league. Pretty unique roles and if you are gonna pick a proper HFF it’ll be one of them.
