Complete dead rubber game. Imo I don’t reckon it’s getting 30. Probably around 27k I’d say
Pies vs dons is a sellout and blues vs gws is a 6.10 Sunday game so I think hawks vs freo being the only other melbourne game would draw a few thousand neutrals. With the form the hawks have been in and it being your final game of the year there is no excuse for hawks fans not to show up. 27k should be a floor anything below that and it’s a bad crowd in my opinion. In saying that hawks crowds have been okay this year so I think it hits 29k.

Essendon probably have more member seats than any club maybe except collingwood for mcg home games so no shows could be huge. I’d expect ponsford stand to be 85% full similar to our away turnout against Carlton in round 10. For a 70k+ crowd general public would need to be full and that mostly depends on how many will be collingwood supporters. I’m hopeful of a 70k crowd but it could be a very grim crowd especially for a sellout.
Well it will all depend on how many Essendon fans decide to go. Collingwood will draw 40,000 of their own fans Essendon you think should still bring 30,000. Think a crowd between 70-72,000

I might be wrong however I’ve got an inkling even the Collingwood folk won’t turn up in their usual numbers. I think we will see an unusual amount of empty seats in the Ponsford this Friday and doubt 40,000 Pies fans would be in the house. I actually reckon it will be 50/50 and around 68K.

MCC is pre selling well. They’re selling all bays on Q level right back to between 8-10 rows from the back row. However, walkups in the reserve may be soft meaning even the MCC is only at 75% capacity as well.

As they should - given clubs have massive membership reserves they really should throw the kitchen sink at getting extra attendances to these 25k to 30k games.
But if you do that too often, it makes the membership nearly worthless, so as a fan you can go without the membership and take advantage of these cheaper rates.

Though, it really only comes into effect for the final 2 months of the year.

I think it’s a terrific idea. Sure, there’s issues with denigrating value of existing members. However, every club does this stuff in different ways. Saints $1 memberships two weeks ago, Blues freebies 18 months ago etc. They all do it.

Theory is thank members abd fabs but it’s really about getting fans to games and keeping them engaged so they go next year, and hopefully buy memberships.

Now that Walla is having a farewell game, surely the Bomber supporters will rock up Friday night to see one of our heroes don the sash one last time.

Carlton vs GWS tracking towards a sell-out on Sunday at Marvel. Blues have been the best at packing out marvel 'sell-out's' this year so potentially they could set a home and away record.

GWS' highest H&A crowd in Melbourne is 43,390 vs Collingwood in 2015 at the MCG. Carlton will go very close to passing that, even more impressive if they accomplish it at Marvel.

GWS highest H&A crowd is 54,985 (vs the Eagles in 2019) which will not be threatened. Although it would be interesting to see what this game would get if it was at the 'G. My guess is maybe 5k more so 45-50k.

Crowds predictions for the round:
Essendon vs Collingwood: 74k
Hawks vs freo: 27k
North vs suns: 4k
Brisbane vs saints: 26k
Cats vs dogs: 20k
West coast vs crows: 42k
Port vs Richmond: 30k
Swans vs dees: 37k
Carlton vs giants: 41k

Pies vs dons will be more like 70k
Brisbane vs saints should hit 30k
Eagles vs Crows is a farewell game and after last week’s performance I think it gets high 40s
Port vs tigers will be around 36-38k
Swans vs dees maybe a couple thousand more
Carlton vs giants could be anything but I’d say something like 39k just because of the timeslot

Lions v saints sold out. With no clashes with the world cup this should be a bigger crowd than the cats and crows games.

Proof that Saturday twilight is the best slot for games in Queensland. Three sellouts out of three games (when we've had 5 sellouts for the season) doesn't lie.

Does anyone think the North v GC in a freezing Hobart on Saturday will get more than 5000?
its not that cold for this time of year.

11C is normal day temp and most importantly, it is not super windy or wet.

But it wont get over 4K. North fans have no reason to support the team, GCS dont have any fans down here. It is probably the most forgettable match this season.

What a year for crowds.

While Collingwood continue to break records there is a few stories underneath that are worth looking at.

Freo are nearly the story of the year for me.
44K average home attendance consolidates them as a powerhouse club in a terrible form year. Comfortably passing Port and even Adelaide to some degree.

That 60K stadium is going to pay dividends for Fremantle as unlike eagles, they have the seats to sell and get people to the footy each week.
