Yay GWS above 10k!

Looks like everyone finally recovered to pre covid

Really interesting that Gold Coast has a higher average than GWS. Given the usual ladder positions. I suppose you are more likely to have a weekend in Gold Coast and have travellers but still.

The Gold Coast gets much bigger away support, both travelling and those who’ve migrated from souther states to SEQ. Not the same in NSW.

Dear Melbourne and Hawthorn supporters: Show up today.

Needs to be well over the 40K the Saints got last night and needs to be close to the 50K mark. Field of women will assist with this.

Absolutely intrigued by todays crowd! Hoping 55,000 + but that’s really hopeful considering these two clubs don’t get over 50,000 generally.
I think it should be the best crowd these clubs would have produced ever considering form & occasion.

Id even go as far to say we don't usually get 40K against them. Tends to hover around 38K and every now and then gets to 40K. Will need to be a massive GA turnout like yesterday to get it close to 50.

Not a good crowd by AFL standard obviously.

You do need to look at it in the context of the local sporting market though.

It did beat another Western Sydney based NRL team home crowd (Wests Tigers) that was played down the road on the same day.

Small wins I guess.

If you get a big 4 club, should be hitting 15-17,000 as a minimum. We’re a long way off that unless GWS win finals and build that culture of success.

I think also it's important than gws and gold coast are building their own supporter base, as opposed to opposition supporters bumping up the numbers. I haven't seen that much yet unfortunately.

The end of the season held so much promise a couple of weeks ago, now we could have a ridiculously lacklustre final round.

We’re down to just 2 teams fighting for the last spot in the eight when it could have been 4 or 5, if Melbourne wins today no one can break into the top 4 either.

And to those who wanted this wildcard round… Why? 8th, 9th, 10th on the ladder are all gasping and reaching for the end of season exit ‘card’, not wildcard! It wouldn’t be interesting to me in this seasons example.

The battle for minor premiership is still open (although I think that’s Collingwood’s to lose and not that important under the current top 8 final system). Also open is the second home qualifying final spot, and the hosting rights for the 2nd elimination final (Carlton will grab one of the elimination final home game if Melbourne wins today).

But yes it seems to be just between us and the Dogs for the last spot - and if Geelong as expected beat the Bulldogs on Saturday night, then the outcome will not come down to the last home and away match between us and Carlton on Sunday evening

We were spoiled last year. Positions 2-6 were all up for grabs in the last round with any of those teams able to miss the top 4, as well as the final spot in the 8 coming down to a tiny amount of percentage (and literally 1 point) on the final day.

Outstanding crowd.

It’s really not when you factor in the Pink Lady freebies

Haw v Melb used to draw roughly the same as Haw v Rich until about a decade ago.

The fixture really hasn’t kicked on

You serious? This is a great crowd! Dees supporters have been pretty solid this year
