I don’t see it with Wilson at all, yes he’s very athletic but I’d have taken Edwards and Demattia in front of him. Collard is an oh Bobby Hill smashed it in the grand final let’s get one, seriously what a pick.Taking local kids is second to actually taking the best available kid. It's great to have kids local to the area but what's most important is taking a kid with a higher projected ceiling
Wilson at the moment is a better prospect than Murphy, who failed at the combine. Ollies numbers were not great. He's still there for us to take him tonight, and I suspect we will.

Charlie Edwards is a half back flanker who can pinch hit in the middle, where as Darcy Wilson is a true fast mid with inside/outside potential. Also we don’t need backs as much as true mids + small forward. Next pick (33) should be another mid (Cooper Simpson or George Stevens), then a key back.Taking local kids is second to actually taking the best available kid. Im really happy with our first round especially considering where the picks we had were.
Wilson looks really solid and no question on the athleticism.
Collard is probably a touch speculative (most small forwards are) but also exciting enough to be worth the punt.
I think North made out like bandits but thats expected with 5 picks in the first round, theyll have a fire sale on mids in the next few years so hopefully we can just pick up someone that wants out at that point.
Dogs also seem to have done really well from round 1.
I didn’t want Collard either but think you’re overreacting a tad. Both widely stated as best available, Wilson said by some to be an absolute steal.I don’t see it with Wilson at all, yes he’s very athletic but I’d have taken Edwards and Demattia in front of him. In the “Live draft” - Wilson had 2 top 10 suitors who genuinely considered him.I didn’t want Collard either but think you’re overreacting a tad. Both widely stated as best available, Wilson said by some to be an absolute steal.
Spoils a good walkLikes his golf. A fellow man of taste and grace![]()
Give them a go mate, I'm sure they will be all ok , they have attributes that we need and lackI don’t see it with Wilson at all, yes he’s very athletic but I’d have taken Edwards and Demattia in front of him. George Stevens will be a better version of dunstan, has better kicking and a much bigger frame. Hoping for him or Cooper Simpson at pick #33.You'd think if Collard goes home we get what we gave to get Henry. F2. Personally players tend to stay if the environment is good have a good coaching staff and, more importantly you are winning games.
Saints very quietly moved up the board to get pick 27 which is now 33 by amalgamating a 3rdp and a f3rdp.
As well as....in effect by swapping with GWS we got Henry for free by replacing our f2rdp we traded out.
Carlton with Camporele son will be interested in both our f3rdp for pick 34 which is a stretch. Or swap one with GCS 50 or GWS at 44 or a very cheaky Bris at 42 who may want something in the bank for next year.
I would have a swing at George Stevens if he was available later, Jobe Watson was big lumbering and slow in the beginning and he went okay.
We always complain about turning athletes into possession pigs....no reason it cannot go the other way....if he turns into a bigger version of Dunstan with better disposal I am not complaining.

200cm with great ariel ability and can kick. Only moved to defence this year so room to grow one-on-one and reckon he could thrive working with Enright who seems to get the most out of every defender.
You are better than this Yawkey. Fair enough thats your opinion on Wilson, but do you really think, the recruiters went for Collard because of Bobby Hill? that makes you sound like a Facebook nuffie which you are not.I don’t see it with Wilson at all, yes he’s very athletic but I’d have taken Edwards and Demattia in front of him. We had pick 40 this year and 3 third rounders next year.hi,
Can someone explain what we did to move up the draft or for next year, i am now confused. thanks
I had one of those, sweet rig. Fully loaded with 4Mb Ram and a 60Mb Hard Drive.FYI Lance collard is lance collard the third so will hereby be known as LCIII
What happened to leathlean‘s picking local kids. Overlooked Edwards to take Wilson and reached for a want away wafl thirds player when Roberts would have been a great choice. I’m sorry but I’m not impressed at all nor am I a fan of dow or Henry, hope I’m proven wrong but I doubt it.
We were nether smashing the trade period or the draft with what we had to work with but I’m very disappointed with what we’ve done.

He looks good ball in hand.
But one on one he looks average at best. Slow in the contest.
Ball keeps going over his head and he has no impact.
I feel like there are some huge red flags when kids go from top 10… top 15 and now we are talking in the 30s on draft night in the space of a month.
Look any kid we take from here is probably 2 years of development away from playing.Ollie Murphy just doesn’t impact the contest enough for a key back.. has little presence, looks more like a tall wing man than key defender.. do not want.
