Collard (Nas) is a massive flight risk.Is extremely close to his family and wanted to stay home.I work with 1 of his cousins here in Perth (Adelaide) and he told me whoever picks him,he will be asking for a trade at the end of his 1st contract.

Apparently is also a very shy kid,but maybe Hill and Henry (Wood) will help him come out of his shell a bit.

I think the saints will need to spend a lot of time with him off the field making him feel comfortable. He is extremely talented,so was worth the risk for you guys, but I felt whoever picked him outside of Freo or WC (Adelaide or Port) was taking a big risk.
Bradee. Think it is a story that we have had recent experience with. I made some additions to your quote just for clarity sake. Different kid and different state but given our success with Nas staying when he was "never going to stay" then I'll worry in a few years from now.

Collard reminds me a bit of Jamie Cripps mixed with Aker. Does the freakish stuff but don't know if he is anything more than a small forward. We lack X factor and he has heaps of that.
He doesn’t need to be more then a small forward.

Christ, Charlie Cameron gives teams nightmares and he camps in the forward 50 most the time

I saw him interviewed on a YouTube video.
Maybe quietly spoken, but I thought he was reasonably confident in himself & in front of the camera.
These guys get a lot of mentoring these days on how to deal with social engagements & interactions.
His Mum & Nan whom he spoke about more so, may come over with him? if they are that close.

Can someone tell me what we traded to get 27? Can’t find anything on it on the AFL website anywhere, wouldn’t have known we had it if it weren’t for this thread.

Like all our other kids Collard is destined to fall in love with Owens & Windhager.

I’d write him off if I were you.

Happy we picked up Collard. but it just shows the joke the AFL draft has become. WCE have been as bad or worse than North for three years, North get gifted multiple FRDP's.

WCE need to rebuild as much as North, GCS get something like 5 FRDP's because they are a northern club, we get Collard becasue WCWE can't match.

What a farce, what a joke, what a corrupt institution this competition has become with the new woman at the AFL gifting North those free dps when she has just come from there.

WCE supporters should be truly angry at this.

So now we get the best Mid : Simpson. Or do we need the successor for Crouch or Steele, maybe Stevens? or is he the next Constable?

or the best key defender : Zakotelsky or Murphy ( Howard, Van Es, Cordy )
or the best ruck : Edwards ( Marshall, Heath, Campbell ).
or the best utility ( probably defender ) : Shoenmakers ( Sharman? )
or the best general defender. Hastie? Jiath? ( Webster )

Never enough picks.

Everyone who isn't norf or gold coast should be angry

And legendary multiple premiership coaches Clarkson and Hardwick get to show just how brilliant they are with so little to work with

Speaking of picks - how many spots do we have left? I have it at 5.

So 1 or 2 picks tonight, 2 for rookie upgrades and then 1 or 2 pre season.

It just seems that with the new system we’re getting further and further away from a premiership. How can you have a “national “ comp that is tailored towards just 4 of its teams to win it . Then complete random charity picks thrown in for others .
I love the whole F/S concept but holy shit it’s just won coll a premiership.
I don’t love it as much any more .

We had Carltons, Melbourne and our own 3rd. We have traded one of these (not sure which one). Surely we trade another tonight for a pick around 40. 2 more picks in the next dozen would be ideal.

Must be a club looking to trade into next year...

We traded away our own 3rd rounder, leaving us with Carlton's and Melbourne's 3rds next year

Hoping we pass on Schoemaker, seems like he has Jarrod Lienert written all over him

I really like that we were able to get the future second. I don't think I've totally got my head around it but it seems we got the fourth pick tonight (27) and actually upgraded next years pick?

The players we picked up both look great. Obviously you never know and it will take time. Collard seems extremely talented and a massive point of need.

Im sure thats the public reason given to the media. But 10 weeks (more than half an underage season) for a one off alcohol thing is not right

For the stuff I am alluding to, check page 264 of the North 2023 National Draft Preview Thread II

Absolutely no idea if those type of rumours are true. Hence why I was asking stavro#4. But if they are, would make a lot of clubs think twice
If that’s true and I’m sure the clubs will know if it is then I’d prefer we pass on him.
