For the more athletic endeavours, and I like to take the piddle from time to time šŸ˜Ž

Fair enough. I guess the Shane Warne Bolles, mullet and zinc look is just coming into fashion over there. They'd look ace hanging out the window of your VK commodore.

Reckon we take a key back with one of our first 2 picks .. havenā€™t really developed a young genuine full back into a player for a long time I reckon we grab one to develop with van es and hope one of them makes it
They've said as much not long ago.
Ollie Murphy and Will McCabe are about the only one's. Murphy every chance with our 1st pick.

He looks like an 1980s futuristic alien looking for someone to probe. WTF are you wearing those around in public for. I thought you were a finely dressed man.
Koltyn Tholstrup and Jean-Luc Velissavis as Saints 2030. The exciting heroes from the future up against the mighty Shadeau Brain and nasty henchman Dayne Zorko. The latest Marvel release.

A late season move to midfield after playing a lot off HBF and ridiculous combine testing. Apparently very quick but also elite endurance. He looks great in highlights and apparently a few clubs have started to rate him high. He's come from nowhere but now sitting around mid 20s in ratings.
About bang on for our second pick I'd say.
Tiz a bloody shame we couldn't work something to get a pick for Sanders and go for a Dragons trifecta.

Perfect for us. Just hope he doesnā€™t fall between picks.

The way he moves is super attractive. I'd definitely be keen on having ago at him if he comes up around our pick. The problem is I have more players that I like than picks.

Its the same every year - if we could select who we like each year we would be the greatest recruiting managers of all time. I dont think Charlie will last to our 2nd pick so if we cant get Wilson or Windsor I would be jumping on Edwards with our 1st. For me midfielders are our biggest list need, but I wouldnt be surprised to see us take a key defender and even a young ruckman if one we rate slides to our 3rd or even 4th pick.

I can see why the club wanted more 1st round picks but I believe they missed a trick when Gold Coast were off loading all the picks they received in pick swaps. I would have traded up the draft order to gain a pick to take one of Wilson or Windsor.

2024 is reported as being a very strong midfielders draft so PERHAPS we are taking a longer term list management build and are looking to get the elite midfielders next year. Midfield madness: 2024's on-ball bonanza

I dont rate Tholstrup he is a low production HFF who is not what we need. Morris is an undersized 3rd tall forward who again is not a list need.

Collard might be an option for our 1st or 2nd pick if we are looking for a small forward - he has speed to burn and would be a good replacement for Gresham. Being from WA he would fit in well with Hill and now Henry. DeMattia is a quick midfielder who would come into calculations also at our 2nd pick.

Its interesting that they have so many WA kids rated in the first round, I dont believe it will pan out in that way. Having watched a few WAFL under 18 games the standard it is well below the Coates League, but they do have a few stand out kids but for me Tholstrup is not one of them.

More first round draft picks reminds me of the old Pelican strategy.
His tactics were fine, except they didn't read those drafts well. Late first round draft picks in a poor draft ( 2012) don't achieve much.

The following year was odd, lots of the early picks , ( Billings, Aish, Scharenberg , Kolishjak....whatever , Freeman ) were duds, but it was a very deep draft with a lot of late talent.
Cripps, Zac Jones, Gardiner, Matt Crouch, Zach Merrett, George Hewett, Allir, Fantasia, Sicily, Hunt, Ceglar , Amon.
So of course we'd traded out our later picks. ( Billy Longer and Bruce ). ( Our poor drafting didn't help ,or was Acres good drafting, Touk Miller and Zach Merrett would have been nice. )?

I wish you could get warts and all reviews.
Tholstrup sounds amazing here.

Is he really low production? He averaged 18 disposals in 2023.
He scored highly in agility and endurance at the combine, which means he could play deep like Membrey does.

I guess it depends how the coaches/list management value our existing undersized talls, and whether they think that Pou is a long term mid.

I suspect our future 1st will be on the table as long as Sanders is available.
It would be a difficult trade as we need a future 2nd but lets say its GWS :

In: 7, 16, F2nd
Out: 13, 21, F1st, 2x F3rd

I can't see that getting it done either.
I think we're stuck.

Suggesting he is low production is extremely harsh considering he played most of the year at WAFL senior level. Very different than running around in the colts.

I'd imagine if he did he probably spends more time in the midfield. He was pretty handy in the champs after coming back from injury.

Van Es WILL be our full back for the next decade plus.

Bookmark it.

Kid is an absolute animal.

Itā€™s about finding him a CHB partner going forward.

I just re-watched his highlights and have to admit I was too harsh on him. Particularly given his National Combine results when he did well in the 2km, speed and agility testing. Add that to his agressive pressure game and he is a much better option than I initially gave him credit for. I did watch all the championship games when he didnt stand out at the time, I was also surprised to read he was 188cms tall. He is one of those individuals with short arms which gives the impression he is shorter than he actually is, having said that he is quite good as an over head mark also. I hate to say it but he reminds me a bit of Budda Hocking, the way he plays and with the locks of hair.

He averaged 18 possessions in the 3 x U18 games with not a lot of midfield minutes, so there is room that he becomes a genuine midfielder. I also agree that the Senior WAFL games will hold him in good stead, particularly holding his position in Subiaco's 2 x finals games.
