List Mgmt. 2023 Draft Thread - Part I

We have 3 future thirds.

Using 1 to trade to Melbourne for 42 and our pick 40 to the suns for 27.

So we will have 13/21/27 + 77/82/86 - but we are upgrading Wood and Stocker with 2 here.

Interestingly enough. SOS said we were taking 4 yesterday.

So either 13 moves back to North for 17+18 or we are genuinely drafting a 4th at 77 😂
77 will come in a looooooong way. There is sometimes that late player to pick up that noone else would. I think of it as a free hit to pick up someone before they reach the rookie draft. A throw at the stumps.

Wilson seems obsolete at Sydney. They have plenty of his type.

I think the concern is North trading for 12 and taking him.

But it just means we would probably want to take this bloke…seeing as he has risen beyond our second pick in all the mocks now

Would be very happy with Edwards - if it's between the two of them, we are in a good spot.

You just never know with Sydney. They have a history of taking players they aren't expected to take.

Who wants to trade out? I'm not a fan of trading away the future either though, just want best players available. I go by who I rate not George's Incel beta-boy's list. I think for needs and quality Cooper Simpson is one we should possible reach for.
Just jealous my mates are more important than yours 😘

Going by who you rate over the guy who is employed to do so, have a look at the narcissism. Unreal. You wouldn't know your right from your left let alone who are the best kids in the draft. Back to the outback shitter.

I really want both.

Sydney are our biggest threat re Wilson and they are one club who generally draft for list needs rather than best available so lets hope that continues. There main list needs are key defenders so perhaps they look at Murphy or Dawson. They are pretty well stocked for running midfielders unless they see Wilson as a wingman. They have just recruited Grundy and have two other ruckman on their list, although Twomey and others have suggested they will take Will Green, I'll be surprised if that happens. They will get Cleary an inside mid as an NGA, so who they will take remains a mystery.

They dont have another pick until #45, so unless they split #12 and move back I can see them looking at a key defender early.

Should cap it at one discounted player per year and stop the trade outs so that they can pay with loose change. The Dogs got the double dip of trading for Treloar and getting JUH for pocket change.

Agreed.

And none of this nonsense of being able to match bids with junk picks. A bid in the first round must be matched with a draft pick in the first round.

If Wilson falls to 13 I hope we trade our F1 and F3 for Adelaide's 14 and F2. Wilson, Edwards, Dawson and Simpson would be huge
This is exactly what I want to do and messaged a few 10 minutes ago about doing.

Except it sounds like it will be GWS with pick 14.

Adelaide trading up for Curtain it seems

Even if it comes in 20 picks.

Your last live pick is in the 50s for a draft that’s said to be absolutely pushing the boundary’s of its depths in the 40s

Norf need to become Tasmania, GC need to become NT & Swans to be GCswans???
I don't hate it...North to Tas and GC to NT makes sense to me anyway.

Since I'm a billion miles away, can someone tell me why we like Wilson more than Edwards? All the posts here seem divided between the two, with a slight negative on Wilson being a bit vanilla. Since the two seem to be a pick apart, why wouldn't we just take Edwards?

Wow GWS give up a lot in that swap. I doubt they would release their own 1st round pick aswell? I suspect that's a tweet from a very hopeful Eagles supporter.

With their lack of key defenders North would be mad not to take Curtin IMO. It sounds like Clarkson was pretty excited by Curtin, so all the media speculation could be wasted.

Yep...

1. WCE: Reid
2. NM: McKercher
3. GCS: Walter
4. NM: Curtin
5. HAW: Duursma
6. WBD: Sanders
7. MEL: Windsor
8. GWS: Watson?

Might just fall back into place after that, but I can see Watson (or Sanders) being the one who would fall after that.

That would be an outstanding draft if we have some luck and pull it off. Interesting we look to be chosing Dawson over over Olli Murphy who is not in Twomey's top #30. Then trading up to get GCS pick #27 where I hope we look at Cooper Simpson as well as the mentioned Hastie & Freijah. Pick #27 will blow out to around 33 on the night.

Ist: Darcy Wilson (you little beauty)
2nd: Will Dawson (huge room for growth)
3rd: Hastie, Freijah or Simpson (speed)

With the above 3 x picks we will still have 3 list spots free =

Picks: 13, 21, 40, 77, 82, 86

4th: Wilson, O'Leary, McAuliffe or Carroll (flankers)

Note: Will Dawson is from Leongatha - Gippsland Power and not WA as mentioned by Twomey in his write up.
Check out Dawson highlights package…I can see a huge upside with that kid, turning 18 next month so another year to get taller, already at 200cm with a good frame to fill out!

Wilson seemingly the likely pick based off all three major phantom drafts released today. But all have Sydney taking Green and Sydney rarely ever take the player the media thinks they will so if that stands, it could impact our pick.

But far too many trades have been floated with picks before us to lock anything in. Same with the later first round picks. Twomey also talked about us taking a ruck yesterday before SOS shut him down so he doesn't seem to be all over what wants/needs with our later picks.
Green at Sydney’s first pick is a big bolter but would be a typical Sydney move.

Don’t get the vanilla tag with Wilson..he’s got real class, something we really need!
