I don't see it. Good luck to the lad and I hope he makes it. But there must be better available.

We would have to have the view Demattia is a pure midfielder to go a combination of that. Bit of the same same by the sounds of it but the scoop is legit so it is interesting to see if it goes that way

Its Wilson obviously over De Mattia. I really, really hope we trade back if Wilson is gone and its De Mattia, there's potential there but i'd much prefer to roll the dice on 2 others (and frankly, he is every chance to be there 4 picks later)

Exactly. Taking 2 underaged mids who many experts think will be small defenders at AFL level doesn't seem likely.

Im hoping we get one each - a mid, any type of defender and a small forward

I just feel this is going to be a bloke we look back on in 10 years time and think how did so many clubs overlook him.

He needs a couple of preseasons to get his tank up to an acceptable standard, but he does the hard parts of the game very very well.

Finished the season with a BOG playing as a midfielder in his 2nd game in the VFL but hey his "athletic" profile isn't great so who cares how often he can find the ball.

Think it’s more a case of prefer others rather than bagging him. He’s a solid player none the less

Wilson probably gets you 150 games. But if he turns out to be Farren Ray Mk2 he doesn’t move the needle.

I get the desire here to go for it. I’m just not sure it’s the right choice?

btw, with De Mattia, there are a lot of things to like. He is a properly powerful, explosive athlete. You can project that he will be a handful around the contest purely on how much acceleration and power he has off a step. The main issue is that he blazes way too much. For a guy that is able to create space for himself with ease he seems to panic kick way too much.

It’s a slight reach from us when Wilson who could go as high as 7 is likely to still be on the board.

I can’t get excited about DeMattia. No doubt a goer but his kicking action looks awkward at best.

Thought the exact same thing.

Personally I think there's weaknesses in people's game you can address but I don't see how you develop demattia.

Fitness is one thing. Body strength another.

But if he's not getting enough of the ball and he's disposal is terrible. I don't see how you can fix that.

Will be interesting come tomorrow night but hopefully we can pick up some good young kids to go with the last 2 years of great drafting

1st pick either Wilson or Edwards
2nd pick hardeman or if we pick Wilson first hope Edwards makes it to our 2nd but unlikely or as others have mentioned trading back into the first rd and grabbing Edwards that way
3rd pick hopefully trade up to 27 and get Simpson

If we have any other picks freijah, mcaulife could be good as well if we get Melbourne's 40s pick

Demattia don't rate at all. Doesn't get enough of it. When he does he might as well have not got it at all. Has pace but that means absolutely nothing if he doesn't accumulate or use it well. Ordinarily this guy would be a late 2nd rounder but he's mid first contention. Shows how poor the pool is.

This draft is one of the worst I've seen in a while tbh. Probably explains why collard is creeping up the order with every day that goes past.

I don’t think the draft is weak.

But I just don’t see the reason to reach for him at 13.

Clubs are going to want Wilson.

Move back and grab DeMattia. Get something additional or upgrade an existing pick in the order.
