Taking a guy that was a touted top 5 in underage year who went on to do very little as a top age due to form and/or injuries is so Carlton.
The only thing more Carlton would be to recruit a nobody that played well for AFL Academy against Carlton's VFL side ;)

I wonder how Moir goes against the bigger bodies he'll come up against. Did seem to struggle to move defenders at Champs level. Didn't see many tricks in his repertoire to find it a bit more. Does have a bit of class though.

How bad was Moir's hip injury?

Hips are a massive red flag for me as they can becone chronic and lead to other chronic areas of injury (back, hamstrings, etc.)

When asked about them at the combine he replied:

“I'mmmmm on tonight.. You know my hips don't lie… and I'm starting to feel it's right”

Easy to talk tough but Carlton were never going to keep someone on $500k a year on the list for 2 years who was surplus to requirements

I think you’re very naive to think that North would chase a bloke who was contracted for 2 more years, offer him 4 years and then don’t go ahead with the trade based on a selection 5 picks apart.

Wouldn’t have happened

First read through was reading the quote on face value, read in a serious tone.
After finishing the quote and realising I'd been had, I went back and sung it through in tune.

Concerning.

I thought he was 18, but with references like that I'd put him at 33ish

A bit high level on the draft this year - to date anyway.

What is consensus on what type of players we seek with our 2 x 20’s picks? A speedy outside mid is my best guess for one of the picks. Some possible names would be great too.

No real consensus, just personal favourites

I would like players with pace for both picks, but will settle for just one if pushed

Pick #22: Tholstrup or CEdwards
Pick #28: Moir, Lual or Simpson

BTW - If we are not getting a mid with pace, then I’m watching for either ZWilliams and/ or CDurdin to be trained in the midfield this preseason

I’d be keeping our Future 1st now and using our two x 2nd picks we currently have on whoever we have on our list of likes…

We certainly can’t compete with other clubs in a position of having better draft picks for any middle first round deal picks, unless WCE trade out to NTH for a great deal then all clubs with 1st round picks might be very satisfied in using what they have…

Geelong is certainly looking for a deal that heavily maximises valuable multiple picks for next year, i think they will most likely use their pick anyway…

Can’t see too many surprises within the first round of players being selected, just a shuffle of positional landings for a few of them, later few handful of picks in the first is where there might be where something a little unexpected happens…

Whoever we’re looking at and select, hopefully they have some combinations of the qualities we are lacking a bit in and help strengthening us as a list…

Few i like that possibly might not, probably will and hopefully still around our picks are…

Charlie Edwards : midfielder
Cooper Simpson : midfielder
Angus Hastie : defender
Billy Wilson : defender
Phoenix Gothard : forward

Will Dawson : key defender
l doubt Edwards will last to our pick, will need to trade up to get him, still think GWS 2nd 1st rounder may be some chance for the right deal, Cooper Simpson looks a solid choice, has some geninue speed which would be useful for our mid field.

Will be interesting to see if Goldcoast trade those 3 picks between our 1st and 2nd for points before they are swallowed up.

Had a look and Hawks, Lions, Freo would be biggest dangers to grab them. Obviously much better for us if they don't get traded as they will just disappear.

They probably will trade them if they can get more points - and from memory there has been more movement in the second round than the first round with pick trades since they began. Gold Coast have literally no down side to doing any trade that increases points so will be all ears to offers. Clubs use the extra night after the first round to reassess their plans so that probably means one or two of those picks get taken by another club.

Here are some examples that I think are within our draft range: Collard, Moir, Tholstrup, Jiath, Wil Dawson, Archer Reid.

Yes and Elijah Hollands. But I want more.

I want Moir too.

They have a very small window to trade.
They have to do it prior to the Jed Walter bid. So their picks in the 20s will disappear - which is good for us
