If we ask for enough extra time can it become the first pick of night two?As it stands now, do we have the final pick of night one?
agree, two picks in the 20s and a late future first isn't particularly compellingThey have better offers from other clubs than anything we can give.
Well, yeah, but I keep hearing 'next best available' types being mentioned and that belies the rhetoric we used to justify trading down our first pick.Sometimes less is Moir
Me too. If the 'draft rankings' they release every so often turn out to be a true reflection of where they'll go in the draft then clubs seem to be ahead of the game when it comes to players who would have once been considered a 'gettable' smokey. I hope we didn't make a mistake trading down our first.Well, that is a bold statement mate. Considering our trading has largely covered our perceived greatest need and the draft appears to be lacking pacy mids or KPD’s around our pick range.
Deadset, if we get two players who become best 22 out of this rather strange draft, our recruiters are geniuses. I have more confidence that one or both of the Irish make it than I do if getting two “gems” in the draft.
Archie Roberts had been linked to us for a while too.Fox Footy draft power rankings: The best 2023 AFL draft prospects ranked 1-50... and the clubs linked to them

"Carlton are also a chance" in relation to Archie Roberts is the only time we're mentioned.
Missed some footy this year including the under 18s championships I believe. Only seen the highlights so haven't seen the other parts of his game.Looks decent. Bit of run, nice skills. What's the knock on him?
Hadn't seen that. 1st time I'd noticed.Archie Roberts had been linked to us for a while too.
How would you know it was a mistake if we decided to trade down our first rounder until you saw whether the player/s that we used it on were any good?Me too. There will still be options I think. You have kids such as Charlie Edwards & Tew Jiath forcing their way into the Top 25, which means some have to slide somewhat.KPP are thin on the ground in both drafts. We need next gen key defender soon. Could be hard to find.
Of course he is - he met the prerequisiteFox Footy draft power rankings: The best 2023 AFL draft prospects ranked 1-50... and the clubs linked to them

Hopefully, as our 2nd pickWith links to Lual and Roberts would be pretty surprised if at least one of our picks doesn't get used on a half back. Links are pretty strong there.
Lual the higher ceiling, Roberts the higher floor
Hopefully, as our 2nd pick
And, Lual out of the two for me
You wouldn't, but whether it proves a mistake or not only gets obfuscated to bu**ery anyway, after the fact, whenever 'said' player still manages senior games and to stay on the list for a serviceable amount of time. The logic is almost never 'who we could have had', it's always 'he goes/went alright'. You might not be able to criticise the results yet, but you can certainly criticise the reasoning. If you are going to trade down the draft order 'before' the day then there has to be a certain logic to it. You don't get a refund or a chance to pick again. How would you know it was a mistake if we decided to trade down our first rounder until you saw whether the player/s that we used it on were any good?
Just for future reference..Please confirm that you preferred to keep pick 17 and take 40 from North or pick 22 and 26 as we ended up doing. You wouldn't, but whether it proves a mistake or not only gets obfuscated to bu**ery anyway, after the fact, whenever 'said' player still manages senior games and to stay on the list for a serviceable amount of time. Was early on, I’d actually forgotten about it with others being mentioned.Hadn't seen that. 1st time I'd noticed.
You can't trade up or down any more till draft night. So it's now impossible to trade "before" the day.You wouldn't, but whether it proves a mistake or not only gets obfuscated to bu**ery anyway, after the fact, whenever 'said' player still manages senior games and to stay on the list for a serviceable amount of time.
