Sorry not giving 25 to Fantasia...
We've had one dead set champion wear it and one that almost was bar a certain lack of discipline.

We've also had some real plodders wear it as well, Mark Athorn, Ben Sexton, Ian Herman etc. It probably doesn't have the mystique that it should.

Left field I know but I would offer it to Charlie. I'm sure that he was previously keen to be near Ed but now it might be nice to have Jezza hand him the number and make a big deal out of it with an unveiling of something honouring Jezza whilst we still can.

Warming up to the Wilson pick, from seeing how Austin talks about him and his highlight video, does have the wheels. I would have preferred Simpson like nearly everyone on here Perhaps could of even traded back and he was likely going to be there, but I guess the recruiters know way more than us. Was honestly shocked how far Shoenmaker, Roberts and Stevens slid would of been nice to have a list spot to trade in for one of them.

Also add Zac Fisher to the list of non-stars to grace the number. Luke Mitchell & Clem Smith post Fev, who continued with some star power.

Not a fan of switching numbers, make it your own, especially after multiple seasons doing so. 100 games should be the 1st endeavour.

May as well embrace what we have eh?

What about Frank?

He was a champion - for one game against us.

I'm honestly staggered we didn't go after one of Delean, Schoenmaker, or Humphries... our salary cap cannot be that tight.

Interested to know how many live picks there are in tomorrow's first round, because we've got pick 16, and I think we've basically shot ourselves back 15 spots in the draft pool for no good reason.

Everything about their re-signings, then every off-field move since suggests they want to keep having a tilt this year, but 2025 will be a struggle for them either way.

You are talking about the 2022 premiers, and a side that saw injuries drag them out of finals contention. Not to be underestimated next year given how much pace they've been stacking on.

I dont see it Jim, many a side has overestimated their list and now i think its the Cats turn, 22 is a long time ago come 2024, especially considering they were the oldest ever winning GF side.

Time will tell.

It's still a famous number in our club and should be given to a young kid starting out on his journey in the hope that they'll forge a long prosperous successful career in that number. For us I think numbers; 1, 4, 25 have special meaning somewhat and should not be given to players who may only play 2-3 years in it.

2 might be the most famous of all. After all our greatest of all time wore it. 11 ranks fairly highly as well.

We are right in the window no doubt. The question I would pose in regard to who we might add in the last spot is; what would hurt our flag prospects the most in terms of losing a player?

Despite what you wrote in the LM thread, our tall depth cannot be relied upon sufficiently imo. Young has regressed and can say what he likes about regaining form, but one club already got rid of him when they had a need for his type at the time. Durdin is injured a lot and may even be required to play alongside Weiters at times (let alone replace him). The others are either 3rd talls (and injury prone) or still very young.

The bloke I wish we still had is Casboult. Could replace all of Weiters, Charlie, Harry, Pitto and TDK without us falling to bits. I would feel more confident in our flag prospects if we had one more ready-to-go back up tall.

With where we are aiming, I just don't see the point of taking another 18 year old who we don't rate highly enough to have used pick 57 on last night. The fact we committed to the rookie draft in advance tells me we have someone specific in mind, and highly likely to be mature aged. I'm hoping for a tall with at least some degree of positional flexibility.
In his interview, Austin basically suggested they would take stock, and assess who was available post National draft. I think those expecting some insurance or injury coverage with a mature ager is going to be disappointed. We have depth, injury coverage across the park, I am pretty sure we will take a throw at the stumps to find a diamond in the rough who can hopefully be developed to add some progression to the list.
