Anyone running 3 premium mids, Sheed and Worpel/Callaghan and the 3 rookies in the midfield? Feels 1 premium short but sures up the other 3 lines and the mid pricers suck in the other lines bar Yeo so taking 2 in the midfield might be the go

My midfield is running 3 premos, 3 mid pricers and 2 rookies. (Phillips on the bench)

So I can pretty much beef up my ruck, defense and fwd line.

I don't like having a weak M4 but it's probably one of the only cons of this set up

Yeah I’ve played around with that sort of structure. Touch and go as to whether I do it or not but think there’s some merit in it

Would love to get Sheed up to a Tom Green/LDU but that’s an English to a Witts and like a Dawson to Daicos etc
Exactly the sort of position I’m in. I keep scraping around trying to find some money to chuck on one of them to get to Green but other areas suffer too much to make it happen.

It's interesting, as I've been noticing that this year, the magic number is '13' - when it comes to players 600K and over (fallen premos/ubers/premos/). No matter what I do, or no matter how sides I see, this seems to be where everyone floats around.

Some get as high as 14, while others go down to 12 or even 11. My challenge here, was to try and make a side of players who could be premos in their position, with only players 600K and above and 300K and below (16 and 6). Took me quite a while, but this is what I eventually ended up with (6K remaining):

It’s a valid point and one that has got me trying various combinations with premo mids so you can still have the either Dees Brayshaw, Docs, Rose, TT , Gulden, Dunko, Nicky D etc

The limited numbers of 300-500k options means sacrificing premo rucks I feel.
Freo Darcy is a cheaper but secure pick and I’ve got him in.

But if I want Laird in from the get go it means putting a Draper with Darcy in to cover the cost.

Or go Marshall , Grundy etc and have a less expensive premo instead of Rory.

After ranking 21 after round one last year and then slowing burning into cider dust like a zeppelin balloon ship on fire …I’ve choosen premo mids that are priced according to allow my preferred def& fwds a spot..ones that have almost guaranteed job security with their place in their side.

Also …no one mentions Nic Martin.

I’ve got him in Fwds with Dunk, Rosee and TT

He’ll be the ultimate utility/winger type player this year for us playing on the ball and kicking goals.

I’m expecting him to average 90 and his supreme fitness ( he won our pre season time trial) and footy smarts will see him elevated to be one of our most important midfielders..hopefully

I went with this midfield .. F8F89727-F5A9-494D-B6FC-1CEB348F7FA0.jpeg

I'm running 5 premo mids + Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie ....Phillips on the bench

Think I'm probably a bit of an outlier, with just 2 Mid premiums, Sheed and Worpel and a bunch of 4 Rookies. But I also have another $350k to spend!

All other lines have just one Rookie (not Ruck) so that is the trade off. How does that song go from Almost Any Goes, 🎼It's not where you start it's where finish🎼. More than anything else the game is based on green dots and salary growth. Yep, points matter, but sometimes the tortoise and the hare parable has relevance too. No approach is the correct one 'of itself', it is the balance of all the approaches.

There will be multiple important times this next 9 days - team selection and game lockout. All the conjecture now is just preparing you for snap decisions in those five days. I wish I was a clearer thinker, my decisions often become a little too emotional. I suspect the less emotional decisions are the best in this game. But, maybe the emotion is where the fun is:think:

PS. I love seeing everyone's team of hope!

Love the Anderson pick. Still undecided on LDU plenty of arguments for and against him. Macrae there for only 90k more who I reckon will pump out another robotic 115 season is hard to pass up. Hunt Cerra and Powell I'd have another look at

Also good job not starting with your boy Mills. I know that must have been hard for you but you've come this far.. don't go sneaking him in at the last minute

I’m pretty happy with this now pending rookies.

If cincotta misses out over Cowan I’ll need to find some cash. Also if Hunphries is named I’d like to fit him in but would also need cash so for that I may just wait on rd1 and swap a Philippou to him or downgrade Callaghan/worpel if he does in fact look a better cash making option over any of them.

Bank: 26k

Def: Doc, Daicos, Yeo, Constable, Ginbey, Cincotta (Wilmot, Chesser)

Mid: Laird, Macrae, Kelly, Worpel, Callaghan, Ashcroft, MacKenzie, Phillips (Hollands, Davey)

Ruck: Marshall, Ladhams (Ryan/Heath/McAndrew)

Fwd: Dunks, Cogs, Taranto, Rozee, Gulden, Sheezel (Pedlar, Greene)

Utility: Philipou

I’ve seen a lot of teams running Worpel at M4, I don’t think I’d be brave enough to do that, it’s a move I feel that could derail your season right at the start if he scores poorly

I owned LDU last year so i did get his highs in my side, pretty happy to back him in again especially with West Coast up first. Role was there in preseason, i'm gonna put it down to him not trying.

Love Macrae but i just don't trust the dogs anymore, if i had a dog to go i would go Baz.

Hunt don't really like but Constable is my only other option with no JS.

Cerra, a player i own in Keeper League, averaged 101 when he got over 70% TOG (14/18 games) 1 injured QT), with Walsh out for a month he'll easily go over that. His role is the defensive midfielder, so most likely will drift back and get those plus 6's. Rozee is a lock for basically everyone because of forward status but Rozee and Cerra both average 97+ as full time mids so i can see a 10+ point jump, which hopefully allows me a Cripps 2022 type start and trade up.

Powell, one of north's main guy, he's a natural accumulator so i feel he'll get more oppourtunies to score over Bruhn who will most likely be doing a Rowell role (which is fine), and Mclean nah. I was considering JHF but need the cash.

Mills was sitting in my side for a fair while but for the same price i've gone Docherty as theres not much reliable defenders.

Ladhams is injured..

Did some shuffling and got that killer D4 spot up to Dawson by giving Cogs the flick. This structure feels a lot better.. problem is it's landed 120k over budget and not sure who to cull and to who. Any ideas?
