Problem is they’ll always allow for plenty of walk up seating. Even for massive games.
So you just don’t know how many will turn up.
They seem to resist moving to fully ticketing big games like the AFL do.
Reality is, they should fully ticket, stop the nonsense queuing up so early. And if tickets don’t sell in an allotted time, open it to provisional members.

Nope disagree the queuing early guarantees me best seat in the house in bay N47 in front of the committee room 4 rows back on the wing. Has forever been walk up and 1st in best dressed is fairest.
Otherwise it’s a ballot (raffle) with too many no shows.
Arriving an hour and half before the Melbourne game was good enough, so interstate side 45 mins should suffice for interstate team.
Also 1st in best dressed for grand final guarantees me a seat, given I roll a swag out at 9-10pm the night before.

There is a downside to the MCC, it’s full of f*cking Melbourne flogs no matter where they are on the ladder.

Reality is, great seats shit people (some).
I always try and find pie supporters to sit near, MCC can have as little atmosphere as a corporate box, sterile plus surrounded by bitter Melbourne flogs

Would you be massively surprised if it was glitchy. I got on the app and browser at about 8.57a.m and was lucky to be in and out by 9.19a.m. Not sure how any supposed "queue" works as I obviously was in the "queue" after you

I think it was just because we were a group of six wanting to sit together. I would be ok with breaking up the group to an extent, but I’m not sitting away from my 8 and 12 yo’s in another bay. Just won’t do it. And they’d hate it even if I didn’t.

I have just paid through my nostrils for 2 tickets in the Medallion Club, N20, best seats in the house.

I only wanted one but had to buy two to get a seat here.

yeah you can just walk into M3 standing, no security will hassle; it'll be a piece of cake.

I would be trying to get you both into the M10 standing area.

From my experience the standing area behind the goals is dire. It's a terrible view of the game. I experienced it for the 2003 grand final and won't be putting myself through it ever again

Yes they do check standing room tickets. They are in fenced off bays for finals.

Before the Melbourne game I was standing near one due to the rain, and people kept trying to walk in but were being turned away due to no ticket.

Note: at least this was the case in AFL members.

The biggest problem is not walk up seating and queuing members
Its the ballot it’s done two weeks out and closed 5pm last Friday.
At that moment, there were 6 teams potentially squaring off in the GF.
It’s now an astronomical $35 so people register then don’t go or hand their tickets back!

It really shows you what membership figures mean. There were maybe 60,000 tickets available to members. Collingwood has 100,000 members who could've bought 4 tickets per membership yet tickets still made it through to general public sales.

I would've thought if membership figures meant something then selling 60,000 tickets with 1 per membership would've been a breeze.

By 3:00pm the game sold out in 5 minutes so not many tickets available

They wont check. Just explain the mistake if they do, but there will be so many people they wont have time to check as you go in.
