Windy and Owens for second and third round picks not good enough? They play like top 10 picks
Not really TBH. While I’m sure they’ll be good players they’re not exactly gifts like the ridiculous numbers that Ashcroft and Daicos are putting up in top 4 teams.

NcInerney 43 hitouts, McStay 15 hitouts, Roma should have a field day when we play them next week.

Top of the ladder is ours for the taking, we still need to knock off Gold Coast though, first things first.

I think about this song every time I enforce the Woolworths employee scanning my card. I dunno what those civilians are thinking but damn... Scan my s**t or I'll pull tha gat. I need 30% off yoghurt, the * you think i'm full price yogurt balling?
They made a movie out of you mate

It was nice to see Brisbane expose their lack of a ruckman and pressure their link run by coming at them.

Gees it would be nice to have Steele play against the Pies, they have so much depth through the midfield. Brisbane matched their mids.

It will be interesting to see how our backs line up against their forwards.

I love Roma as a player for his all round game, but his actual ruck tap work remains pretty average so we’re unlikely to really exploit the pies there. Big O with his height advantage tonight often tried to spike it. Ro will likely opt to try and grab it out of the ruck and boot it forward as his method. If Cordy plays another stinker against the Suns, they might look to bring in Campbell and force Ro to spend some time forward of the ball. We’ll have options to consider post the Suns

The big one is Mcinerney had 18 disposals, Mcstay 10

If that lump can get 18, Roma gonna have 30 and 3 goals

It's like winning a HiLux and finding out the neighbours won Lamborghinis though. You've got two players that aren't just gun kids, the are guns of the competition for free. Daicos stats...

● Ranked 1st in Disposals Per Game ● Ranked 1st in Effective Disposals Per Game ● Ranked 2nd in Score Involvements Per Game ● Ranked 3rd in Uncontested Possessions Per Game ● Ranked 5th in Kicks Per Game ● Ranked 5th in Supercoach Score Per Game ● Ranked 8th in AFL Fantasy Score Per Game ● Ranked 9th in Metres Gained Per Game ● Ranked 10th in Handballs Per Game ● Ranked 12th in Bounces Per Game ● Ranked 1st in Total Disposals ● Ranked 1st in Total AFL Fantasy Score ● Ranked 1st in Total Effective Disposals ● Ranked 1st in Total Handballs ● Ranked 1st in Total Kicks ● Ranked 1st in Total Metres Gained ● Ranked 1st in Total Score Involvements ● Ranked 1st in Total Supercoach Score ● Ranked 1st in Total Uncontested Possessions ● Ranked 6th in Total Bounces ● Ranked 8th in Total Time On Ground % ● Ranked 11th in Total Inside 50s ● Ranked 17th in Total Contested Possessions

Ashcroft in his first season is 3rd in the AFL for contested possessions, 10th intercepts, 8th in clearances, 3rd in stoppage clearance etc. Absolute beast not just a promising kid.

Now do Owens and windy. And philippou. I genuinely think our boys are just the one step down in terms of rookies. Not as good as Ashcroft/daicos but at least as good as any other top 5 pick or Horne Francis.

Idc about champion players, give me a champion team. That’s the great thing about our youth, it’s that we are starting to bring in batches of good quality players at a time, many with high ceilings.

Good for Collingwood and Brisbane with their father sons, I’m sure we won’t be complaining if we get a few quality father sons down the track, but for now just be happy that we are developing well and the kids are showing plenty. Worth remembering that development isn’t linear either.

Its too early to judge where they will get to in their careers.
G Ablett junior was "promising" or "handy" the first couple of years.
5 years in and wow.

There is such an evenness to the competition at the moment, whichever team has a bit of luck towards the pointy end of the year will jag a flag. I can’t recall a year where there hasn’t been an extremely dominant team or couple teams. Year is still young, but I reckon it’ll play out this way until the time comes where some teams drop off & focus on development and the draft.

Right now Melbourne and the Pies are fancied as the flag favourites. Brisbane beat both of them but lost badly against Port (who have been shite) and the Dogs (who have been equally shite). The Blues and Swans look decent but haven’t been overly consistent. Richmond are in the top half a dozen favoured teams on the back of winning flags three years ago…overrated. Port thereabouts because they have a very good list and the media expect them to at some stage perform to their potential…they are also overrated. The Cats will sneak into the 8 cos they are guaranteed 10 wins at home…finals gifted to them.

Reflecting on last weeks game against the Bombers I reckon both us and them are severely underrated. I don’t think we received enough credit for that win nor the Bombers for staying in the game for three and a half quarters against an electric outfit…As the Boss said, we were electric in the first quarter. Essendon have a very deep midfield but have some young and inconsistent taller players that will have their ups and downs throughout the year.

It’s a funny season, several clubs are in with a chance. Some that are favoured I’ve already written off, namely Freo, Dogs and Port. Saints, Essendon and the Blues will make the 8 and look like being consistent finals performers over the next 3 or so years.

Teams to make the finals this year in no particular order: saints, blues, Dons, pies, demons, cats, lions and swans.

I also reckon saints top 4. Have some much deserved luck on the injury front at the backend of the year and look out…

I'd love to see North beat Carlton but I just can't see it happening, Carlton have a stronger midfield and a better forward line with McKay and Curnow.

North's defence could struggle to contain them without their McKay and Logue out suspended.

We traded in a father son with Cordy but it would be nice to get some of our own that are top 10 pick quality like Daicos and Ashcroft.

My money is on north. I think Clarkson will do well against all of the inexperienced coaches.
Looks like norf at least have LDU and Simpkin back for this one. If by some miracle they do manage to win, we're likely to still be on top at the end of the round even if we lose to the Suns.
