West Coast will be much better next year. In saying that, I don’t mind it. With the age of our list, by the time next years recruits mature, there will be legitimate spots available.
I still think they're so far off it, they're going to be reliant on inexperienced young players or hoping older injury prone players stay fit. Can't see how they finish outside of the bottom 4.

Not that it makes much difference but a few options to trade #7

#7 + F2 (Or F3) for WC F1 if they are super keen on Curtin and he is available
#7 + #16 for Crows #10 + #14 (may need a pick upgrade in Giants favour)
#7 for Crows #10 + #20 (Or Crows F2 + F3)
#7 for Saints #13 + F1 (Unlikely as Saints need to keep their top picks)

Not sure if anyone else has the picks this year to make a trade unless a 3 way trade happens

Wasted 5 minutes of my life looking at the options so apologies if i waste 30 seconds of yours reading this

If OSullivan is available at our pick I think we should take him.
He’s a super talent… really good size and amazing tank already. Has great footwork for someone that size.
No go home factor.
Investment for the future… I’d play him forward and have him look to take Jesse’s spot in about 3 years.

You cannot take him if Curtin is still on the board, would be a complete lack of recognition of how valuable that pick then becomes. If Curtin is there which as of the last 24 hours seems like it's becoming more likely you have to take him or trade it to WC, there's too much value to be extracted from that pick to simply take someone else. Would happily take Curtin and bring him in as long as the off field all checks out, would try him as a mid and give it a real go tbh that's the most intriguing part of his game to me and if it doesn't work out the you can shift him to a KP.

West Coast will still be in the bottom 4 next year. Some very average players getting a game still. Plus some of the veterans getting long in the tooth.

Think an interesting part of getting the WC F1 is the potential possibilities it opens up next year, it very likely gives us a chance to add a premium young talent but also could be traded for an established elite player. If we can put together another deep finals run next year as well as a strong regular season we could be seen as a potentially attractive destination for someone looking to win now and long term. Could trade the WC F1 on it's own or pair it with our 1 our potentially trade back from the top of the draft into more picks, it gives us more flexibility and options going into next year. Top 4 pick + 15~ is an offer that would get you an elite player.

PMBangers what's the draft looking like next year. anyone peaking your interest at year out that would be a good fit if we were to have the WC pick?

Agree that it would suit us to be able to bring in an established elite talent for once and a pick like that might be the bait.

I feel like at pick 7(8) ATM there isn't an obvious fit for us. I like Curtin but I'd prefer a top 4 pick next year

Yes you can. I like OSullivan over Curtin.

Is there a scenario where West Coast keep pick 1 and Curtin slides to our pick and they offer us 23 and their Future 1st?

From their perspective he’s very highly rated and if they didn’t take Reid they would take him but they just push go now.

For us the players around our pick are pretty unlikely to get a game next year unless there are a few injuries. Their first selection next year could be Pick 1 in what looks a decent draft?

Just spitballing.
Bump - November 5th

Hasn’t happened, but as Lloyd Christmas said to Mary Swanson in Dumb and Dumber

“So you’re telling me there’s a chance”!! 😁

Yeah agreed, I don't think there's a great fit for us at 7 with who's expected to be on the board, I'm a little bit out on Sanders, Curtin and O'Sullivan both at a position we're pretty good at it, Leake and Windsor might fill roles but they're probably being overdrafted a little bit for the sake of fit. I'd happily take Curtin and role the dice on the elite talent as long as there's no issues off the field with him but also fine with kicking the can down the road and taking advantage of WC being desperate.

Couldn't have said it better.
Take Curtin or trade him for F1.
Not as much fun for this year but hey....I guess I'll watch WCE games

Herald Suns/Codesports phantom also has us trading out pick 7 for eagles future first. Then taking Hardeman with our next selection.

Sorry for the intrusion but imagine turning the hopper trade into 2024 pick 1. GWS record for trading for picks that gain value is almost unprecedented.

Was hoping the crows might get in on a pick trade with you guys but if WCE are genuinely putting their f1 up...we go no chance

Depends on what deal WCE want to do. If they take the view that they are trading 2024 pick #1, and try to bleed us accordingly, then we might not do it. If they take the more realistic view that they'll improve next year, and that they get the added benefit of a WA local one year early, such that it's approx #3 to 4 (with early/local benefits) for #7, then OK.

If WCE viewed their future pick as #1, they wouldn't be trading it at all.

However we've seen many clubs overrate their prospects when trading future picks...
