Injury 2023 Injury report

Not sure how it’s bipolar to be amazed at the injury turnaround but also be logical enough to know Tassie’s number 1 target when they enter the comp will be…the best player in the comp
That’s why it’s so fascinating to me because you don’t see it. It could also be that it’s just pessimism because you’re expressing amazement at something that largely settles down this time of year at the teams that reach PF weekend. IMO, it’s a leading indicator of a teams ability to manage their list and challenge for the flag.

In 2022 Geelong were fully fit for PF weekend, Brisbane hasn’t had an injury Ashcroft aside (😔) since Covid, Sydney went unchanged for the last 10 weeks of the season and we had Adams and Grundy on the sidelines. In 3 weeks time Melbourne will have Fritsch and Oliver back, Port will have DBJ back and Brisbane never have injuries.

Even if it was just idle speculation, suggesting Naicos was a danger to go to an as yet unformed team was a clear contender for worst take in the history of BigFooty.

Ashcroft would probably dispute the last contention.

That’s not what you said though. You basically penciled in Nick to Tasmania because he wouldn’t be able to resist the cash, which is paranoid nonsense.

But…we’re Collingwood. Not sure how those other teams are relevant? Richmond went 3 seasons with minimal to no injuries.

Collingwood have consistently had a pretty mediocre to terrible injury list essentially since Bucks took over in 2012. Give or take a year or two.

So to me, it’s actually staggering to see us with no injuries. Regardless of time of year. It just so rarely happens to us.

I’m aware I’ve now jinxed us.

There's a pretty big difference between a club targeting a player and a player wanting to move.

Every club in the land would consider Nick Daicos to be a number one target. That wasn't the point you were making in the other thread.

There was no point. It was speculation, obviously based mostly on assumptions. Assumptions gathered through historical precedent.

Yeah, of course Nick Daicos could stay and may be nothing like Gary Ablett. I don’t think I suggested otherwise?

I was merely saying I wouldn’t begrudge him or be shocked if he took the offer should it come his way iiiiffffff he had already achieved a lot with Collingwood

I’d take a more total view of Collingwood injuries and suggest we look at it based on different HP eras. Under Davoran we were that far off it it’s staggering we weren’t consistently bottom 4 based purely on off-field preparation. White then had to basically rebuild the list from a performance perspective to have them respond to the modern game and not breakdown. Wade’s then come in and built on that with modifications to suit McRae’s playing style.

2023’s been a negligible run on the injury front we aren’t Adelaide or Brisbane, but we aren’t Carlton or WC either. We’re now reaching the point of load management so if you take it on face value that Wade is actually good at his job rather than reflecting all the way back to a regime that had NFI it might make more sense to compare with say a Geelong who had a similar run into September last year. To this point of 2023 at least because the jinx could mean anything.

I really get the impression he loves playing with his soon-to-be-recontracted brother.

Had Nathan Ablett already walked away from football when Gary Jnr. went up to GC17?

Yes I do not think Nathan was still playing, maybe country football by then.I think you correct in your impression
about the Daicos boys they give every impression of playing their whole careers together.

And if anything GAblettJr's experience at the Suns probably serves as a disincentive.

If Josh and Nick continue to thrive together, it would be very unlikely for either to leave during their prime.

I could not be more confident of anything in my life.

Neither Daicos is leaving Collingwood. Ever.

Yep. In fact, I believe he followed Gary up to GC briefly in a failed bid to revive his career.

Shortest injury report ever.Long may it continue!

Our fitness and conditioning staff have done a brilliant job. We are the fittest team in the League and most of our injuries have been unlucky broken bones, or ligament strains. Virtually no soft-tissue injuries. Quite incredible.

If there’s anyone other than Fly and The Daicii that should be signed to long-term contracts, it’s our fitness and conditioning team. They are our secret weapon.
