It was a strange risk by Doedee,.considering he had already done one knee.

Now there is doubt about how he will perform on his return, at a time Worrell, Hinge & Michalanney have all gone past him this year.

I hope he sticks around, but he is no longer deserving to be part of our top paid players.
If he sticks around he should be right to go about round 5 (following about the same timeline sloane took in his rehab/return - and you’d have to think he’ll recover a bit quicker than a 32 year old)..

so either he’s gonna kick one of Max, hinge or worrell out (which would make me spew) or he’s gonna be playing a lot of sanfl next year.. which he’ll completely dominate.

they should trial him in the midfield if he plays a lot of sanfl next year..

Hinge might move to a wing and doedee slots in as 3rd man intercept

They have to trade their first, that's a given. Do they desperately need points though?

If they can get the points elsewhere and move this first rounder into next year that's the best case for them.

I know they need a lot but, haven't they already made decent inroads into that?

They have. They basically need to replace their current first with equivalent points, which our 2 seconds should do for them - the benefit for them being to then get our F1

A few clubs have good assets to go for it though - just have to be really confident on who we are trading up for to be worth the price

Wait, are you saying we trade our future first and 2 x 2nds this year for their first this year?

No way.

You would hope a Jones and Hinge to the wings leaves no place for Sloane
No place for him any way...

Edit...

Wow… really?..

a top 5 pick for two seconds and a 1st next year which will hopefully be a pick in the teens..

that would be an awesome deal.. especially given Tyler will likely be a top 10 pick that we’ll have to match next season so we wont want to hold our 1st rounder anyway..

all out this year is a real option.

Still find it amazing that Adelaide aren't being touted as a serious trade partner for the Gold Coast 1st rounder by Cal Twomey and co. Barely an afterthought it seems.

The Suns would get exponentially better value having a further 2 x 1sts next year after cashing in on 3 x 1st round Academy bids this year right?

As far as I'm aware the Crows are the only team with an active interest in moving out of the 2024 1st round (which by what i've read, looks like the stronger, and deeper draft) and have 2 x very early 2's in this draft with perfect points for a team with 3 players who will attract bids.

Not saying that's the exact trade terms, but logically would make us the far and away front runner in terms of appealing packages.
Gold Coast have academy options next year too don't they? Still valuable to have 2 x picks next year as they can be traded again.

And get a second back this year. Just swap the two seconds for the points will be no motivation for them. Others will offer more. Not often a top 5 pick is up for grabs - they will be looking for a very good deal. Assuming the top 5-6 prospects are highly rated someone will be a good premium

Maybe it's just the last week but I'm feeling a little gun shy 😬

This GC pick could effectively be a pick 7 when you factor in North's PP, McKay pick, GC matching a bid on Walter.

Paying a pick 4 premium for a pick 7, I'm not sure about.

The flip side is picks 19 and 23 will also blow out.
