Now is the time to be aggressive in our list strategy

We have turned over and exposed our list but we still have gaps to fill

We need a quality defender, quality mid and a long term ruck prospect

We need to consider trading contract players out who may get better opportunities elsewhere, Ned, Shol, and maybe Berry

All well and good but who and how ?

We went hard at Will Day who was the one that would have helped us most

Now we are likely just hitting draft

Yep that’s the sort of thing we need to carefully risk manage

Given all that people need to temper expectation re what we get in draft , we won’t be drafting an elite midfielder unless they’re Tasmanian

There’s a fair chance we draft a key defender or flanker type in the 1st round

That’s the cards that have been dealt

Cheers, coming from one of our resident draft guys I'm even less keen on some of these proposed trades.

We still need to move our future first into this year, trade for a player perhaps.

Might not hurt to bank our picks to the future - trade '23 picks into '24, then '24 into '25, each time trying to increase value. We're on the way up and our r1 picks aren't going to be crash hot in the years to come.

Unlikely. He played SANFL most of the year. Nicks couldn't get him out fast enough. A weird decision to not pick him over Parnell and one that Nicks should regret after seeing Parnell play.
No. There is some rule for the AFL teams that an AFL listed player needs to have played [x] number of games after [y] date to be allowed to play SANFL finals.

[y] date is mid July sometime?!?!

Was pretty dumb to not have him play at any level last week.

Seems like it's only ever younger players who get the travelling emergency one week suspension treatment.
Some of that is to keep them fresh

Was just surprised parnell was selected in front of him this week , the sanfl finals and trying to work out where Parnell sits next year are 2 possible reasons mentioned I agree with

Needs to come into consideration

Have heard Hamish say he rates this draft though , don’t really agree outside of top end but it’s not first time he’s gone against the grain

The problem I have with it is we then punish them the following week at selection because they didn't play.

Yeah I would be trading out our future first to try and get another first in 12-15 range for this year. Use pick 9 and hopefully another first to get 2 mids in. Use the trade for a KPD and a better ruck.

A player trade coming in is ideal but not sure I can see it happening this year

We could trade into this year with future picks but also I could see the opposite too , trading into some next year with the quality of SA kids next year compared to one of the worst batches this year

Not any standout mids in that range , similar to what we have already
We don’t need any more foot soldiers and B graders

We need quality over quantity over the next 2 drafts

I thought he was AFL emergency last week and recall some mention or thought I had that he was still one game short for SANFL finals
We're not back here again, are we? The list of SANFL-qualified players was announced last week and presented here several times: Nankervis was on it.

He was not sent back to qualify.

You guys aren't really giving the club much to work with if you rule out the Tassie boys. Everyone is saying we need to draft a midfielder with our first pick, but then some don't want one of the 2 Tassie mids as they may leave when the new team comes in. Doesn't really leave many options for them if we do manage to get a hold of the Gold Coast pick.

Have to deal with reality - those tassie players WILL leave once their team comes in.

We don't know how it was saying he was qualifying. For all we know he qualified at that time and one more afl game could have ruled him out. God I want the crom Jr to win the flag this year, just as a big **** you to the purists and the SANFL itself.
