“Could” I would challenge for 1 week, to be honest.

I'd challenge it, it was 1 week at best for a simple side-on bump. His worst offence was not being in in the contest for the ball, and Ricards went to his knees as soon as Marley was coming into contact, I don't think he had any intention of going for the head. Seemed like a side bump.

It sets a precedent now. Anyone who does not come back on from a concussion will now be set as HIGH impact. Remember it for the rest of the season.

Imagine intentionally bumping someone in the chin and making them cough up blood and only get a fine.
This is where the system is well and truly ****ed.

I have no issue with Marley copping one or two based on the current system, but to give a guy who hits a guy in the chin well after the ball is gone a fine is dogshit.

It’s the whole penalising someone based on if some can get up or not, that doesn’t sit well with me.

Out of the two, the act itself of hitting someone well after the ball is gone is far worse than a split second decision gone wrong. They need to stop weighting everything on outcome and more heavily weight on the intention of the player.

How is Matt Crouch’s bump low impact? The guy was spitting/coughing up blood ffs.
It should also be graded as intentional. It was so long after the ball had gone, that it couldn’t be graded as anything but intentional.

It’s just your typical fit the charge to the result you want to get. He only wanted to fine him, so make up a bullshit grading.

Ahern can play for 1st round instead of Marley.

Pittart, Lmac, Daw, Walker, Atley, Ahern and Jmac
If that’s how we line up Round 1, then it might get very ugly.

Based on Friday, Daw isn’t ready, JMac is just shit, same goes for McDonald and Atley is quick but clueless.

With Marley out I would be looking to try Turner out as a small defender over the next few weeks. He is next to useless as a small forward at the moment, so maybe the task of a shutdown role might be what he needs.

Also time to see if the Mason as a back man experiment has any merit?

If available, I would look at trying something like:

FB: Turner, Walker, Pittard
HB: Atley, Tarrant, Ahern/Wood

McDonald and JMac can battle it out to be the backup option.

I would be giving Hosie a run up forward and moving Turner back. Maybe Garner could be an option as well? We have plenty of forward options as coverage, but we desperately need to find players for the back half.

Hi giantroo Any chance you could do a Simpkin style frame by frame mock up showing that when Marley committed to the bump Richards was in line for a body to body bump, but in 0.37 seconds Richards dropped thereby giving Marley insufficient time to change course?

(Not sure if the evidence would actually show this)

LT getting suspended for a high tackle which was turned into a decapitation with murderous intent, is one of the all time great MRP rogerings.

Not only that. It started the harassment of LT that ended his career. It's as bad as what happened to Goodes imo.

Daw would have to get injured between now and round 1, to not play. He wasn't horrendously bad last week. And with all the talls that the Saints will have up forward, he'll be needed.

I love the Majak story, but putting my footy hat on, he looked lost on Friday night.

It’s not to be unexpected, it’s his real competitive hit out at AFL level in over 12 months.

Just based on my observations, if Tarrant is fit, I see Majak in the VFL until he gets back up to speed.

We have coverage with Walker and Durdin if needed, so need to throw him to the wolves before he is 100% ready.

Durds is a battler. I reckon Maj has more upside, so assuming he builds over the coming weeks and doesn't get injured, I think he'll play ahead of Durds round 1. He's also a better pinch hit in the ruck.

Despite his occasional dive, the difference between Williams and Crouch is Oliver is tough as nails so wasn't concussed.

The system is shithouse.
