Come on - we wouldn't want to see (insert STAR player name here) suspended for doing (insert watered down version of grubby act here) would we?

If they play for;
. *
. Coll
. Carl
. Haw
. Syd
. WB
. WC
. Gee
. Rich
. Port
. Crows
. Melb
. Bris
...........most certainly they deserve a week.

Well it looks like the AFL has decided 2022 will be harder to watch than it was this year. It's no surprise tbh. There were too many 50/50 contests this year that were overturned leaving the MRP with egg on their face. Now players will be able to run into you head first and get you suspended.

And when they do their promo ads for next season - it’ll be 80% of bodies getting smashed. 🙄
Dodgy as right.

How many of their promo clashes would result in a suspension these days?

There is so much wrong with this. Does this mean if you duck your head into someone as they pick up the ball they get suspended automatically? Cos it seems like that's what will happen.

Maybe if there was a send off rule

In all seriousness, the changes are interesting. Personally I love the 2 second struggle players often get to redeem themselves if they get tackled, but for whatever reason (if they can't fight their way out there will be less lingering tackles that eventually sling them down? It allows more players to convene on the spot a ball up might occur?) the AFL don't, at least from the sound of it we may start seeing them pull people up for illegal disposal more though.

I approve of them trying to cut down on player induced time wasting, as it's arguably the best thing to target if they want to reduce congestion at stoppages, but completely eliminating warnings is probably a step too far.

As with all rule changes it's a big wait-and-see, ultimately.

No need for warnings. Its a professional sport, we know the rules. Piss the ruck warning off too. If you cant work out 6-6-6 tough shit. Free against.

"Jack Ziebell, North Melbourne Kangaroos, has been charged with Rough Conduct for inspiring Willie Rioli's bump on Matt Rowell in the third quarter of the Round 1 match between the West Coast Eagles and the Gold Coast Suns. on Sunday March 20th. The offense was judged as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

In summary Ziebell can accept an eight-match sanction with an early plea."
