Cavanagh thinks

Tholstrup, but we'd be interested in Collard (a bobby hill clone he says) but he will be off the board by our pick.

Cal on gettable says we will use two picks. And thinks one of them will be used on a tall, just a matter if its the 1st or 2nd pick. Puts up some names.
I doubt we go tall, but if we did I’d like it to be Lloyd because he looks to be able to kick his goals in a number of ways and he’s shown improvement across the year. That’s of course with no real knowledge of whether he’s got the traits (competitiveness, workrate, clean ball handling etc) so I assume Carl will find some way to whack my opinion.

Pardon the intrusion.

I have landed the Pies in our board Phantom Draft. I'm hoping you can steer me in the direction of biggest list needs.
Being an Eagles supporter, from the outside looking in, it doesn't look like much at all. Lol.

I was thinking a proper power forward perhaps? Maybe a bit more outside speed and skill?

Someone mentioned it a few pages ago, so I’ll go first with my ideal picks - 3 options at each, based on likely availability at the pick, and in order of my own preference (assuming we only take 2):

Pick 19 - 1.Ollie Murphy, 2.Charlie Edwards, 3.Harry DeMattia

Pick 33 - 1.Cooper Simpson, 2.Arie Schoenmaker, 3. Ashton Moir,

NB. Cooper Simpson at our second pick would be an absolute steal IMO. He is pretty much my favourite player in the draft outside the top 10 and I’d even be tempted to pick him with our first.

NBB. I’d also definitely take Nathan Philactides with a third pick if he was still there. Reckon pick 80 will come into Pick 50 to 60’ish with matching bids and passes.

I have a few of those guys on my shortlist already :). It looks as though, from that list, you're wanting either best available, speed or potential upside. It is a talls draft so I thought 33 would be a good chance to grab someone there.

For me -

First pick - DeMattia/ Tholstrup/ A Reid /C Edwards

Second pick - any of above plus Jiath, Dawson Green Hastie Lual

Yeah, pretty much. Burst from contest, link up players, multi positional players and x-factor/upside. They really suit our game style IMO.

I’m usually all in on drafting talls, particularly forwards, given our aversion to doing so since… forever.

But this year other than a few rucks and a few that don’t really play the traditional role (Schoenmaker/ZZ etc), I don’t think there are any worthwhile ones (don’t rate Archer Reid) that really match up with our picks, unless one slides (ie Murphy).

Thanks mate. I've got a strong list now.

Will report back when I'm done with reasoning and see if I get flamed 🤣

Do you always talk in riddles and about yourself in the third person? 😂

Spill the beans.

I think it was me.

Pick 19 - 1.Charlie Edwards, 2. Ashton Moir (or 33 if we think available) 3.Harry DeMattia

Pick 33 - 1.Best mid available, 2.ZZ 3. Arie Schoenmaker

We do seem to have a bit of a thing for the South Australian’s over the last couple of years. Wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled the trigger on Moir. Will they roll the dice for our first pick or see if he’s still there in the late 30’s. Mystery.

1 KPD and 1 Mid with speed:
Assuming: Ollie Murphy and Harry De Mattia don't slide
Pick 19 - 1. Arie Schoenmaker, 2. Zane Zakostelsky, 3. Charlie Edwards
Pick 33 - 1. Will Dawson, 2. Koen Sanchez, 3. Cooper Simpson
Pick 80 - Unused unless Logan Morris or Luke Lloyd slide.

If Ashton Moir was available I'd get him in a heartbeat - he was touted as a top 3- 5 pick before he had a couple of injuries.

He can kick like Sidebottom - 50 metres either foot

I've got a feeling we'll go tall. (And I'm not one who screams out for recruiting talls). Just reads like a draft where everyone is going to speculative by our picks - and there's a fair few speculative talls in supposedly in our range. Will Greens highlight package looks good. I'd like him.

Only just watched the last episode of Gettable and Cal suggested Murphy’s likely landing spot is a pick in the 20’s. Which was an absolute surprise to me.

If so he actually could be a possibility at our first pick… so I’m now editing my picks.

Annoyingly he also thinks Charlie Edwards has interest in the top 15😤

Some decent highlight vids of Cooper Simpson online for anyone who hasn’t watched him during the year. Particularly the one from noobermensch below.

And the AFL one only pasted a couple of days ago.

I love the throwing out player comparisons and he reminds me so much of a shorter LDU with his burst and ‘leg drive’ (to use a David King catch cry)
