Looks super athletic for his height, great competitor & strong core. But kicking skills are really really poor.

Lock-down tall defender might be his go ..good closing speed, big leap & punch / spoil, strong core to also compete 1v1.

I don’t think his kicking is that bad. Particularly given he is only a recent convert to the game. Most of poor kicking efficiency stems from hack kicks from congestion following up his own ruck contests. His kicking when playing as a defender is relatively sound given his height. Definitely not worse than someone like Harris Andrews for example.

In an elite environment I think he would be able to shaped, moulded and the improvement would be exponential.

Looks an interesting draft this year. Might be a good year to gamble on dare i say - key forwards in a reportedly shallow draft

Archer Reid looks extremely raw but if Fly can teach Cox to play - you'd suggest he can help him reach his potential.

Logan Morris looks an ideal Brody Replacement in a few years. Should be available at our second pick. Similar size and style.

Would be really nice to see these two settle in the VFL FF and CHF

The worry for me with Archer Redi is the bloodlines with his brother at Essendon

If he is anything like Zach he will never put on the size and muscle to be an effective key forward

Yes fair call.

The lighter guys tend to get found out especially in finals but if Internet stats are to be believed he's already 4kg heavier and 3 years younger than his big brother

With picks as late as the pies have… I think we could do with a young tall or midsized defender as the Murphy and Howe near the end

Leaving Frampton, Dean and young Ryan

Pies might address the lack of depth with a DFA… but if they don’t

Murphy, Jiath, schoenmaker, and Reid as a KPP who might make it as a forward or defender

One of these would be nice.

We could do with a mid but I think free agency next year is the way to go there… rather than taking another speculative mid like Rantall with a late pick

Wouldn't mind giving one or both of the Werribee guys a spot on the rookie list. Mannagh or Clohesy would be better option than Richards which is a draft pick I still scratch my head at

Who are the FA mids available next year?

Ethdog with his latest phantom is on to this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Angus Hastie is reasonably high on our draft board. Less exposure to the talent pathways which would interest Hine, also excelled in multiple sports. 190cm attacking defender that if able to put on a bit if a size has decent defensive scope as well. Skinny and raw but there are no perfect players, particularly later in the draft. One to keep and eye on.

Sounds like the typical Hine project player

Will Green, Mitchell Edwards or Archer Reid you might have access to who all tested really well in the combine. Morris too small and didn’t test that well. Morris had a great year stat wise but the recruiters are not rating him that highly due to his lack of athleticism. They believe his game may not stand up at the next level. Would be good to see him in the VFL for a couple of years to see wether he comes on.

He’s roughly the same weight that Moore was when we drafted him. I’m not concerned about his ability to put on weight if he’s already 93kg.

Hoping we get Moir and Charlie Edwards.
(We prob need a developing inside bull but...)

Hine special KP late in the draft
Why? His name pops up intermittently on here and from everything I’ve read he’s your classic gun U17 that has stalled while others around him have risen. I come from a place of limited knowledge so take it with a grain of salt, but he strikes me as one that has just remained relevant because of past deeds. Anyway off to check out Ned Long.

Edit: I see JOELY is onto it as well!

Trouble w Ned is that he has been on a list.

It’s just MO on Moir as he has the run and delivery that we covert and think he might be a player McRae could turn into a gun.
Or he may not.

A little biased but would quite like

Charlie Edwards as our first pick - breakaway, tall midfielder with an ability to play forward and lead or provide run off half back

Luke Lloyd - 193cm Third tall-type really at that size, albeit Checkers height. Good hands, good tank, accurate kick who will make the most of opportunities. Really good head on his shoulders too. Could also play back - I know Crows have been considering him in that context. I've seen him play midfield too and his work in traffic is good.

or

Logan Morris - (for similar reasons as Lloyd) or Patrick Weckhert

Has Morris’s athleticism come into question? Didn’t test well from all reports think it’s given clubs the ick.

What’s the negative in that for you re Long? I honestly don’t know anything about him and that post was very definitive which suggested it’s happening.

We’ll see on Moir, but I get a real sense that unless the inconsistency of the SA system and injuries got him he’s not quite there. Right now I think he’s an undersized forward at the top level that doesn’t have the forward traits we desire (pressure on defence).

Also a general knowledge question. Is Lance the son of Clayton?

Yep - pressure might be an issue w Moir
He may succeed / fail depending on the club he is drafted to
I’m a bit more forgiving w mids that have down draft years as opposed to KP such as Lemmey / Scully

Long I honestly don’t know about but I worry when a club is in a phase where they could be patient w unfulfilled talent let’s a player go

I’m putting this up from a very limited knowledge base so if one of the draft watchers come in over the top and corrects me happy days, but if Moir is ever a mid it’s part time and a long way off. To me he’s that guy that cruised through because he thought he’d done enough. There’s a lot of back slapping that happens over in SA and apart from the 4 goal game at reserves level he looks a rookie pick at best. That all said I’ll get behind him if we bring him in 👍

That makes sense with Long and I can also see it as a case of there being only so many kids you can have in the same role at the same time. His VFL numbers don’t scream senior list to me either. We’ll see I guess!

Yes that’s the mail coming from clubs, they’ve also done all the checks and balances throughout the interview process. I rate him although he’s going to need some serious wheels to play that 3rd tall type ie Nic Martin Essendon/Ash Johnson Coll. Early in the year he was rated inside 25 and has slipped marginally. I’m sure he’ll be given an opportunity to prove himself. Late second round/Rookie potentially.

That’s a good point about mid, he’s prob a outside wing, high HF

I’m a real fan of Lloyd. Can play the lad.
