“We had several KPP options, but in the end we couldn’t look past [insert vanilla half back flank here] at our pick, as he was really high on our draft board. We felt his lack of exposure to elite pathways, late birthday, and basketball background were just too good to pass up.”

Sounds like Hine.

Though I heard this is his Final Draft at Collingwood

I think we were linked to Lachie Voss in the mid season draft.
They had him more commonly linked to Melbourne. But you might be on the right path.
He'd suit our needs at 199cm, athletic (good leap and a low 6's 2K time trial time) and able to play both ends.
2 x premiership player with Sandy Dragons, so part of a strong team when he's been available.
His grandfather (Ernie Hug) played for Collingwood too, albeit he barracks for the Hawks

We're not going to do that. It's not a consideration. AJ and Markov are getting picked up in the rookie draft no matter what. Clubs don't do that to players when they've committed to rookie-listing the players. Absolutely 0% chance of Collingwood going back on their word.
The only way that would happen would be if another team drafts one of them.

I hope I'm in 10 years we're still here laughing about this same stuff!

Hope we get him + a key back and fwd.
I hope we get a player that plays 150+ games. You take best available. No point selecting players based on position if you think they are no good.

Having said that, I suspect we have coalesced around this position in the draft because we are after a player that fits our list profile needs.

This would be how TradeDraft would rank the prospects if he was in charge of the collingwood drafting.
