With Lamar Jackson on the practice squad.

49ers off season QB dramas is easy social media clickbait.

It is easier to ask who hasn't been linked to the 49ers. I remember when Shanahan got asked when appointed what his plans were for QB...he responded with something along the lines of you look everywhere and explore all options to find the right QB for the team....I guess 6 years on everyone still takes that too literally.
To be fair, we're 6 years on and he still hasn't made up his mind.

Shanahan is like that guy that takes used DVD players and rocking chairs on hard waste collection day.

49ers QB room 2023 according to social media

Rodgers
Cousins
Jackson
Brady
Purdy
Darnold
Lance
Jones
5th round rookie
UDFA

And a street scrub will still end up starting a few games.

The way they go thru them in a season they'll need about that many.

Shanahan so stung by the events of last season, losing all three, and QB-less in the playoff loss, it wouldn't surprise he might carry say 5

It's either Shanahan or they are snake bit.

Matt Ryan's MVP season is either an outlier or the target.

Quality is there.

But two key drawbacks:

Durability.
The Circus 🤡 that comes with him.

Yeah, you're right.

Not only the 'circus' media wise, but he is also such a revered figure amongst the majority of players that the fear is that it would take the slightest dip from whomever is the starter to begin the lockeroom division and rumblings of wanting him to start.

If he had a brain he would have named Mahomes, get a ring and you cause zero controversy sitting behind him. Seems to me Cam wants to have a bet each way while saying he would be a backup naming a tone of guys who might fail/dont have the experience/are injury prone. Those are the sorts of teams who want nothing to do with him cause it would cause a controversy.

Titans signed DT Jeffery Simmons to a four-year, $94 million contract extension.

A former first-round pick, Simmmons was about to play out the final year of his rookie contract on the fifth-year option. Not wanting him to reach the open market next offseason, first-year GM Ran Carthon locked up Simmons for another four seasons. Simmons opened his NFL career with a quiet pair of seasons before breaking out with 8.5 sacks and 12 TFLs in 2021. He followed that up with 7.5 sacks and nine TFLs in two fewer games last year. Simmons has earned a Pro Bowl nod in each of the past two seasons. A force on the interior of Tennessee's defensive line for the past few years, Simmons will remain a Titan through the 2027 season if he plays out the entirety of his new deal.

TMZ reports a criminal charge of aggravated menacing has been re-filed against Joe Mixon.

The charge, dismissed in February, was re-filed Friday due to "the discovery of new evidence during the investigative process," according to the Cincinnati Police Department. The aggravated menacing charge stems from a road rage incident in which Mixon allegedly brandished a fire arm in an argument with a 43-year-old woman in January, one day before the Bengals played the Bills in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. It's the latest in a series of legal issues for Mixon. In March, Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn was reticent when asked if Mixon would be the team's starting running back in 2023. There's a decent chance he'll be on another team's roster come Week 1.

Jets GM Joe Douglas told WFAM Sports Radio the team has a trade in place for Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.

"He's going to be here," Douglas told WFAM's Boomer Esiason. The latest rumors have the Jets waiting until Day 2 of the draft to trade for Rodgers, with the Packers receiving a second-round pick and 2024 second rounder. Rodgers will count $16 million against the cap this year if traded to the Jets and $32 million in 2024.

CBS Sports' Josina Anderson reports free agent WR Odell Beckham will travel to New York to meet with the Jets on Monday.

The Jets currently sit with just over $11 million in available cap space and are reportedly still in talks with the Packers surrounding a deal for Aaron Rodgers. Having just signed wide receivers Allen Lazard and Mecole Hardman, it doesn't make a lot of sense on paper for the Jets to be pursuing Beckham in any meaningful capacity. That said, who know swhat recent whisperings Aaron Rodgers has made in Joe Douglas' ears in his bid to get to New York. As things currently stand, Douglas has some work to do with the cap numbers before an offer to Beckham can be made, and the organization will likely require an extensive physical following Beckham's second ACL injury.
