There’s 30 names on the field to start with. I’m not sure I’m sold in the 2/5/2/2.5 set up. And I maybe the only person without Dunkley and I’m not sure that’s a good thing.

Apropos of nothing, I listened to the raymagoo interview on the Supercoach podcast this morning, and I found it reassuring how similar my novice assessment of players was to his.
Only real differences seemed to be that he's a bit iffy on Naicos ("50/50 on him" apparently), while I'm pretty confident he'll do okay, and I'm a bit iffy on Ratugolea, while he seems a little bullish.

Not sure if this is the right thread?

I've really got into trying to quantify all aspects of super coach. And I made a crude model that projects scores over the season for a given starting side, using a bunch of assumptions, including an assumed average for each player and some consideration of injury risk.

I used ran through 4 teams:
  • best one i could find/make (13 keepers)
  • mid price madness (12 keepers)
  • super promos and rookies (13 keepers)
  • 14 keepers.

For all of the teams I used 23 trades on upgrading the team to 22 keepers. I did this by adjusting the assumed average of promos traded in (and their price) during the season.

The graph below is season average to that point, as opposed to round average. The results aren't that surprising:
  • MPM starts well but it drops away as it has more keepers to bring in, so it brings in keepers with a slightly lower average
  • the 14 keeper team comes home strong as for the opposite reasons that the MPM team falls away.

It's very rough, but I think it will be some use for trying to assess different teams.

I've really done it because I enjoy this sort of stuff, not because i'm too confident that it's the key to success. It will only be as good as its assumptions, so if my guesses of averages are bad then my team will be bad.

It's probably made me realise that with 36 trades there are different ways to use them. And the more keepers you have, then the more trades you can spend on sideswaysing or injury or correction trades.
I’m not sure you’re taking SuperCoach seriously enough.

Like you’ve got a few PODS but think Guthrie has limited upside. Green & Anderson way better value IMO around the price. Both should keep lifting to around 110+.

Worpel - surely this is a pi55 take

Dude you're a gun SC er

Worpel will be playing Neafl by rd5
I think he gets a lot of opportunity this year, no jaeger and no titch, I think if he cleans up his disposal he can get back to his best of 97, but in reality I’m thinking he goes low 90s. Spike a big game in the first 5-6 rounds to boost that $$$

Currently looks like this.

Would go Taranto to Tom green / LDU if I turf one of the higher priced rookies for a 123k type.

Will watch for any candidates in upcoming practice matches.

Would love some feedback as every year I start the season thinking I've got a great team, only to be nowhere near it.

Quick notes:
  • You definitely need another premo mid. Way too thin in there at the moment (consider cutting a def premo to free up the funds).
  • Rookies need some shuffling - Clark, Weddle and Sinn won't be playing early. Also, shift Ramsden to Madden - no need to spend an extra 20k if it's a loophole. Hewett also questionable. I also wouldn't be spending 162k on Hollands at M9.
If it were me, I'd go something like:
  • Weddle -> Wilmot (+~7k)
  • Dale -> McVee (+~440k)
  • Clark -> Constable (+~50k)
  • Sinn -> Fergus Greene (0k)
  • Ramsden -> Madden (+~20k)
  • Hollands -> Baker/Chesser (+~40k)
Gives you an extra approx $557k + Hewett to bring in any premo mid that you want.

Nice team, having three KPFs as rookies is dangerous but if it works you'd be laughing.
Keep an eye out for Mc Andrew thou, word from Horses mouth is he is a round 1 starter.
Cheers mate. All rookies with defs get a shake up closer to the year. I’ve tried to have a few rookies over 125k so I have plenty of flexibility come round 1.. I’ll probably panic trade Draper to haha

Nice team, assume rookies are placeholders until round 1, but agree you need to think about having another premo mid. Do you think you're going to get better value out of Sicily vs say, Macrae?

I think we'll probably get another good D rookie you can probably even trust onfield with say a McVee or Wilmot, which should allow you to get an extra premo on field.

Having said that if you think the mid rookies are where the cash is at go for it. It's just hard to catch up to people who have 4-5 mids pumping out 110-120 each week.

Inspired by how good Newcombe and Worpel look... this is my Mid price madness team. I actually love it. Still not sold on Yeo though.

Looks pretty good, except for the Worpel inclusion.

Well, starting this team scares the shit out of me. Weak starting midfield and Rucks go against what I would usually do, along with so many high priced rookies/mid pricers.
