Difference between best and worst, I'll hazard a guess
I would hazard a guess that he'll often go for the mark rather than punch, tries the spectacular rather than the simple at the wrong time and sometimes too far off his man.

Played the last 7 and 9 of the last 11 I believe so won't and shouldn't be dropped. Still got lots to improve on but what 20 gamer doesnt. Been really good for his inexperience I reckon.

Happy with ball in his hand as well especially when you see gov turn it over all game. Give was the annoying one today for me with his kicking

I'm not risking anyone for this game if they're not right. This is a free hit at the pies, were playing well and a chance but we need to ensure we have our best for the more winnable games against the likes of saints, dees, gold coast and GWS

Cripps will be fine but if cerra isn't quite right, don't select him. Same with owies, Motlop, silvagni and wash.
I'm almost in this camp, but I think we need to consider it against how we match up against Collingwood, Melbourne, and St Kilda. We're probably better suited to the latter, so this is probably the unwinnable game.

But we can't guarantee the other games, so there will be some who will be 'risked', and the odd one who won't. So far I'm only expecting one player to exit through injury (Walsh), but I'm looking over at Acres and Cottrell and wondering how they'll pull up.
Kemp has been brilliant since coming back into the side plays his role perfectly, it’s no coincidence that once Young has been essentially swapped out the backline for the much more mobile kemp that Weitering’s form has improved dramatically and is back to dominating games.
Kemp and McGoverns speed and mobility helps cover Weitering’s one massive weakness which is leg speed it may be hard to see watching on television but at the game you can really see how these three are communicating and covering for each other extremely well. Kemp and Gov also improve our ball movement dramatically out of the backline I would give it a less than zero percent chance that Durdin or Young replace Kemp in the back 6/7 anytime soon.
Agree with most of this, but I'm pretty confident that Weitering's form turn around also coincided with him losing a bit of weight. Changed some things up and became a bit more mobile, whereas earlier in the season he was looking bulky and flat-footed.

He has an amazing endurance base for a tall, and we seem to have flirted a few times with making him into a man mountain without considering his acceleration off the mark while he's up at 100 kgs+. I think he plays better below that mark, and does the contested work just fine.

I really love how many of our defensive line-up are able to make attacking plays at will at the moment, and I don't think it's been in such a good state since the 90s. If I'm not mistaken it used to be a Carlton trademark to be able to skewer teams from half-back and the wings decades before it was the norm in the league.
Paddy Dows game.

21 disposals with 15 kicks and 6 handballs
8 inside 50's
7 clearances
4 centre clearances (game high)
11 contested posessions
6 score involvements
569 metres gained (team high)

The Disposal isnt always clean (52.9%) but he does damage. Oh and he kicked a goal.
He too often stopped trying to draw a player to feed the ball out by hand or create a misstep, and I think it cost him opportunities to be far more effective with disposal, but he was also playing as the first receive option while others got to dig inside the stoppage more.

Full credit to Hewett, Docherty and TDK doing the bullocking work though, but Dow wasn't in his best role at the stoppage. I'm both impressed with his efforts and disappointed.

At least Docherty's minutes were tightly managed, but I think it came at the expense of Cottrell, Acres, and Hollands, who basically never left the field after Walsh went down, and Ed wasn't far behind them either. I noticed Acres was somewhat managing his output in the first half, and I'm going to have to glance through again to gather how conservative those others were with their distances/sprints.
Care to translate this into english?
'Eliminate his outliers', or fix up his defensive lapses and the occassional disposal sprays. From my perspective, I see it largely as the consequence of trying to be an athletic playmaker while playing as an undersized key defender.

That is what Pat Cummins would do if he captained coached Carlton

Fisher: stays out for mine, our recent resurgence has been on the back of an intensity that seems beyond him. Unless they have elite attributes elsewhere, I'm hesitant to bring players with a questionable appetite for the opponent/ball. (I might be a little harsh on this one)

Kemp: I see this both ways. He's quite raw & has a few errors in him atm but we do seem a more cohesive unit with him back there. I don't see Young or Marchbank as better options, unless there's something specific the coaches want him to go back & work on.
Exactly my sentiments. Do not let Fisher near this accountable contested pressure game.

Let Kemp continue to back himself and build confidence, taking the odd lapse along the way

I think this is the way to go. We seem to be much more conservative on injuries this year, I hope it stays that way.
Have a crack at them but don't risk anyone in the process with another month of the season still to go.

Probably too early to guess a squad until we get an injury update - but I am assuming Cripps, Cerra and Martin coming out were mainly precautionary this week:
Cripps - Walsh (inj)
Cerra - Ed
Pittonet - Silvagni (inj)
Martin - Motlop (inj)

Voss said he expected all of Cripps, cerra and Martin to be available, owies a chance but didn't seem as confident

HB: McKay - Sexton - Christou

Don’t mind if I do.

We win this, it will end the debate with any AFL doubters and we would be a lock for finals. I write that in full knowledge that statements can tempt fate. I am so fired up I am wiping Stan Magro's spit off my face. Win, lose or draw, I am in it Talk about this with your children. Imbue them with the meaning of this titanic struggle

Perhaps you two could offer up some opinion or analysis rather than playing the poster

Always love your work. Just laughing at the language.

Kemp offers great upside. Aerial one on one and great ground ball skills. There is no coincidence that kemps return goes along with better defence and movement from defence. Weitering is the cork and kemp and saad are the wine.

How has tagging Daicos gone this year? Seems to have a zillion touches no matter what oppositions throw at him.

I’d at least try Ed…

You have to tag him in my opinion. Won’t stop him collecting the ball but you will curtail his impact.

Question is who. Would’ve loved to have seen Walsh go to him, has the tank to run with him.

I’d love to see Cottrell go to him. Has the tank to run with him all day. Give him the challenge and she what he can do.

My wishlist.

1. We win

2. Someone involved in playing and/or coaching to reach for a fixturing excuse as to why they couldn't bear us

If those two things happen this season will be blown wide open for us

Wishful thinking.
