NO. CHANGES.

Sam Docherty will play his 150th game in the Navy Blue guernsey - the jumper he grew up wearing as a supporter - as Carlton looks to continue its strong run of form from recent months.

Last weekend’s sub, Ed Curnow is the sole omission from the Round 22 team: he has been named as one of four emergencies alongside Jordan Boyd (now available after suspension), Sam Durdin and Josh Honey. One of those four will be named as sub an hour before the bounce.

We weren't going to drop Pitto and play only 3 tall players.
So up to five mm's expected from the late morning onwards. Could be fine throughout the game, ground should hold up pretty well. I agree that Pitto will be important to give our mid's first use, however Tom could actually be more effective against Gawn. TDK played very well in round 12 and beat Max on the day, from memory.

So I had to list every decision I thought went our way?
Feel free to list all the decision you thought we were hard done by, common!!

I personally thought watching the game, we had a few calls that went in our favour.
We did, but it was a poorly umpired game in general. Bad/missed calls on both sides. I don't think either side benefitted from it more than the other though.

The Hollands one was definitely HTB. He got a fist to it, but he had prior and it bobbled out of his hand first. Those are always called HTB (or more often than not). If he'd had no prior, it would've been fine, as it was a genuine attempt. With prior, he had to dispose of it legally, which he didn't.

Let Pitto take the hits in the middle and let TDK be the crash and bash on baller at stoppages like he was in the second half last week …

I think those advocating for going with TDK only are probably overestimating TDK's ability to be the no.1 ruck all game and play at that high standard he showed.

If TDK was shouldering the no.1 ruck duties, the thing is he likely wouldn't be able to be as explosive as he was in the 2nd half last week, because he wouldn't have the energy. Marshall was pretty huge in the 1st half, but the Pitto and TDK combo wore him down which helped them get on top in the 2nd half.

Stop spying, you’re too old for reconnaissance missions.

It ain’t giving up, it’s realism. They’re in good form and we’re very undermanned. And I, uh… I k-kinda like Melbourne?

I do hope we win. But if we don’t, it will definitely be because god is punishing you for singling me out in this fashion.
spying? I'm reading their game thread - then along comes our own supporters with what I would describe as simpering submissiveness....just take the shame.....

Grundy will be out to prove himself so could be dangerous. Dees will be expecting us to try and focus us on pinning down Oliver now he's in, whereas I'd be looking at Viney initially (or Trac when in the midfield). Assess how Oliver is holding up and if he's running at full flight, whomever is his direct opponent really needs to make him accountable and see if he blows up somewhat, let him test those hammies out. I would think bar injuries Oliver will be subbed out at some point.

This is where I think we have an obvious advantage. Their choices for sub are not great:

1. They sub out an underdone Oliver = both ruckmen late in wet weather stay in the game.
2. They sub out one of the rucks = an underdone Oliver stays in the game.
3. They sub out an injured player = both ruckmen + an underdone Oliver stay in the game.

Said something similar on the MB match thread.
They're claiming that they've built him up to be ready and he would've played 3 weeks ago if it was a GF (Gawn's words).
If so, why not give him a half in the VFL 2 weeks ago, then 3/4 last week and unleash him this week with game time in his legs?
Odd to bring him straight back in after 12 weeks off, regardless of how much they've 'built him up'. It's risky for the exact reasons you've mentioned.

Unless... he couldn't play in the VFL either...

Even in the dry that strikes me as an advantage

If it’s wet this will be even more of a territory battle - first possession. Out of the middle vital - need control in the ruck - at least break even.

Pitto has a chance in the centre.

TDK ruck roving , pinch hitting forward.

I’m catching up here obviously - but is the suggestion that Oliver has not been playing because he has run foul of the AFL’s illicit drugs policy?
Because what has happened with Oliver missing games does not reflect the parameters of that policy.

Strike… heh heh

The Dees MC were very smart to bring back Grundy. They knew by doing so, that we would be not able to drop Pitt. Seems like no matter what the conditions, all four ruckmen play.
Not sure that was their intent. They lost Petty who was going well up forward. Their logical replacements were Ben Brown and Tom McDonald who are both injured. Grundy was the last and only cab left at the rank.

Vossy has said over and over that his preferred side has Pittonet & TDK in it. Someone on here was quoted on here as saying that we gave the best centre clearance differential in the whole comp when Pittonet is rucking.

The only talk about Pitto being dropped appears to be from a few on here. Barring an unusual set of circumstances Pitto is playing every game that he is fit.

He's also only missed the 10 games. Pretty lame conspiracy.

They stayed close, but didn’t lead us by 4 goals though..

Dees are just going they’d want to take it up a notch or two to get over us IMHO
Why is anyone comparing north how they played last week and they need to take it up a notch. the 3 teams before that they beat teams we didn’t beat this year , they have won 2.5 games more than us , they have cemented a top 4 spot.. let’s just relax a little…we lose tomorrow we possible could be out the 8, hopefully not . My point being any week anyone can win

Your post on the Dees board is at best obsequious... you're "incredibly scared of Gawn" and Petracca will 'trash us" as a "given".

Nevertheless, each to their own... your reflections on the relative civility of the thread is spot on though.
Or is it just a sense of humility? Something a lot of our supporters aren't showing on the main board or opposition boards of late.
Odd that people seem worried about this at all really.

Any chance of Boyd coming in for Fog, which we could then keep Ed in as the sub?

Fog had a poor game last week, hence having to sit on the back bench...

Don't see the point of making this change. Seems to me like a change for the sake of change more than anything else.

Fog wasn't involved much against the Saints, but still rated OK for pressure, and we know this has been his primary function since coming back into the senior side.

I don't think you mess around with that on the back of one down week especially given our form and what's at stake. It's not as if it hasn't been working for us.
