And just as an aside, and I understand he's pretty young for a ruck, but if any club wants to pay TDK $800k to a million bucks over 5-7 years, on current form, I'd happily accept a couple of high draft compo pics and offer him a lift to his new home!
Agree but we need to have a suitable alternative lined up and ready to go.

One thing I thought was interesting last night was the Adelaide ruck set up last night, stifling TDK's run. Isn't that blocking? Jack jumped over him at one point only to give away a free for over the shoulder. Again, blocking FFS!
The umpiring of the ruck contests last night was atrocious.

I'd say Premiership contenders don't lose by 10 goals. A more accurate metric is Premiership contenders not conceding 10 goals straight. So, by my estimations the Pies can't win it

I think anyone (including myself) who thought we were/are flag contenders this year is getting way ahead of themselves..

One bad loss doesn't mean the whole season is a write off though, I am very optimistic we will bounce back against The Stains next week at Marvel.

Can you show me proof Luke wanted him!

Even if Sayers made the approach it could have easily have been "we'd love for you to put your application forward for consideration."

That's exactly what the headhunting part of shortlisting is.

It's part of the first step of a professional hiring process - application acquisition.

You still need to go through the process.

Those who think Ross was actually offered a contract, I'd love to see an article that confirms this. I'll be the first to apologise.

Have been asking the same but still nothing.

In 2021 Melbourne lost to Collingwood who finished 17th.

We need to respond and not get jumped like that again but there’s way too much wrist slashing going on after one loss.
whatcha expect in here, sin?

Two of the quickest and smartest we have are Durdin and Motlop.

I realise they're not mids but boy, I would have like to have seen them get a run through the middle. Both have better than average skills and hard to tackle

Watching our usual mids running up and down on the spot got very tiresome.

Would absolutely have Durdin in the middle

As much as this is true with a lot of SOS’ draft picks, it’s the current list managements job to get rid of the lemons on this list (SOS has been gone since 2020). There is no reason to still have JSOS, Dow, LOB, Honey, Ed Curnow, Fisher at the club. I would be genuinely shocked if any of them are at the club next year and all of them (apart from Dow and Honey) seem to be entrenched in the 22. There is also no reason to still have Owies, McGovern and Martin on the list next year. Our top end talent is as good as any clubs in the competition. Our bottom half is as bad as any clubs in the competition.

If this club can get rid of those types that I listed and replace them well, this club is a flag contender. They aren’t with multiple plodders getting games all at the same time.

This.

If we're anticipating picking up some father and sons in the coming years (Campo's) we might have the benefit of trading future firsts to get ourselves another first this year. Get some mild currency from trading a Fisher (Freo/WC), Plowman (handy for a rebuilding team for a year or two), but yes I'd definitely look to offload DeKoning.

If Geelong end up mid-low table this year, they'll start looking at a rebuild and would prob be quite happy to bring in a TDK for say their first rounder plus a 3rd, problem is don't know if they'll be allowed to trade a first rounder again if they drop of a cliff (so might be a 3 way trade scenario).

If lucky might be able to get some further currency (points) for a Dow, LOB, Owies type.

The other thing is bite the bullet and maybe trade a Cripps, if he continues this year as he has perhaps best thing to do right by him is to let him go home to WA. He's been a great servant but might be good mentally removing the need to rely on him all the time.
Your idea re Cripps would be the move a progressive club would make but it will not happen because he is too heart and soul. Cripps could play like 1st half last year but he only has 50 games max at that level
