cant believe it but its likely we are heading for another coaching change......i can just see it happening. they'll probably hand it over to hansen for a while
You’re only thinking like this because past evidence has shown that our club or those running it behind the scenes don’t have any backbone to genuinely support or challenge our coaches. They’re only there when things are easy and that mentality has seeped into this playing group.

Voss’ presser. Goodness me. He liked the method in which we played.

Wow.
we were killing the centre bounce clearances first half. do you know what our f50 entry numbers were compared to saints in the first half? I assume we had way more? lack of conversion always comes back to bite us on the arse.

second half they got over the top of us from clearances i think. just crumbled after half time.

With decision making and skill level like we showed today its hard to implement any game plan.

The players ability to hit simple targets is abysmal.

Harry's game was pure torture. Dropped a number of simple marks as well as just destroyed several opportunities by kicking directly to the opposition. At times it looked like he was playing for StK.

The game against WC couldn't come along at a better time. Hopefully we get a healthy win and a few guys remember what it's like to play with a bit of confidence / freedom.

Whatever Mark Williams wants to be paid to come in as our skills coach - pay it. Just pay it.
100% this - we made enough chances and didn’t leak goals so a game plan exists - the issue is the skills.

Field kicking was atrocious and eventually we turned it over in spots that were impossible to defend.

The goal kicking is awful with Charlie, Harry, Cripps and SOS all largely unreliable kicks for goal.

Last year Cripps kicked goals but this year he’s yet to kick a goal and we don’t have a reliable goalkicking mid/small forward.

You only get so many chances to put an opposition away at this level and at the moment we’re not taking our chances.

Modern football?
That?
yes, modern football.. there’s more to it than just getting a clearance and scoring off the back of that which is the only thing we’ve been good at. The moment vossy tries to add layers this preseason the players don’t understand or aren’t capable of doing it. Not the first coach to try and get them to grasp the concept either.

How are any of those changes a statement? I would drop weiters if you want to make a statement. Been our worst player for the last 2 weeks
Yeah can’t fault you there either. A statement has to be made, this honestly is a line in the sand moment for the club after today.

We either turn it around (as let’s face it we have been playing pretty poor all year except a quarter here or there) or the reality is even after last years disappointment these players are just not cut from the right cloth and someone needs to take a ****ing chainsaw to this list and start again.

We won the midfield battle, we had more possessions and the biggest possession winners on the ground and yet we lost the game. We butchered the ball and in particular our F50 entries. We didn’t move the ball cleanly and we kept putting our teammates under pressure when we tried to move it quickly.

StKilda where happy to wait for us to turn it over and spread and run. They then used ball well and with clean disposal and setup, moved the ball and scored easily. End of game.

Ps. I’m also concerned with Weitering. Not sure he wants to be out there right now. We also have a lot of selfish footballers.

I just don’t understand what happened to our skills over the summer. We were never high octane skill wise but now we are bottom 4 material. Is the team lacking that much confidence? We surely are not as bad as we are playing. Or are we?

he said a bit more than that… seems like the players aren’t adhering to what he’s asking.
Well drop them then -- they haven't been listening for 6 weeks but still getting a game .. they will keep doing it also ..
but let's get the banjo out and light a camp fire --

I think it is a confidence thing with the live ball movement phase of the game. Coaches are trying to teach them new phases and I think they are just overthinking it at the moment. It actually may also have more to do with the players without the ball offensively rather than the players who have the ball. Forwards and mids aren’t working hard enough on the spread to create options for the kicker.

I mean if George Hewetts instructions are “have no impact at all whatsoever on the game” then to be fair he’s listening.

If he plays next week I’m done for the season.

Our midfielders showed up and did their job but that’s about where the positives end. The backline lacked any and all dare to attack. Chipped the ball around aimlessly. The forward line (sans Charlie) was negligent - H and JSOS in front of goal, nothing much from Fisher, Honey, Durdin and Motlop. Yet the coaches took the cake for worst performance - slow and stagnant ball movement, which is exactly what Ross wanted, and then exposed on the counter attack. +86 disposals and -4 inside 50s. Belted in the coaches box.

Heard him before Adelaide game on SEN talking jibberish of not wanting to go back to that losing feeling and how team winning and learning but not playing well is better than feeling of a loss etc -- he can be mentally fragile also - last year after injury came back not the same ..
