It all clearly points to a Port v Carlton grand final :).

Can't agree when you've got headless blokes like Fish (horribly out of form) and Honey (how can he keep getting picked) running around doing SFA.

Want more run? Binns for Fisher, Cotters/Mots for Honey.

Some are saying Hollands might need a rest too?

Plonk Kennedy up forward when not in the guts....he's a legitimate target, great mark and loads of footy smarts.

Not suggesting Kennedy shouldn't be in the side, just don't think he would be a direct replacement for Ed

Great that we had a better combination of speed in the side, with Doc and Saad returning, but as a whole, we still lack foot speed, so endurance runners become more vital for us compared to other sides

Kemp with the first 2 intercept marks, apart from his brain fart kick, that redemption goal was a statement, “I belong”, and was a nod to us.
Cincotta, best 2 gamer that the radar missed by a continent.
Love his intent at the moving ball in the contest, super clean and wants to run with ball in hand, pretty tidy at disposal by hand and two sided by foot!✊
Doc and Saady, integral, standard setters and ******* dangerous in possession, puts oppo off guard every time, that is how you have to be seen.
Charlie is the beneficiary tonight, but jeez we fluffed so many entries early, still needs work?
Fish is not the answer, he was serviceable tonight, but wasteful, nervous, seconding guessing.
There’s a lot waiting in the wings for his gig, tonight was his night to showcase and I feel he didn’t cut it.
Massive KUDOS to our boy Jacob Weitering, kids had a week soaked in turps standing in a naked flame, fmd, he did well, kicked precisely and spoiled a lot of attacks in the air and by movement, hat tip Jacob!
Cerra has worked his way into the season and is close to our most important, if fit and locked in mentally, he adds enormous dimension to our balance in the midfield, in musical terms he’s the harmony.
Hewitt got back to his base, probably a bit fitter than prior, that’s a confidence run for him.
Take a ******* bow Blake Acres, close to his best game in the AFL, had him ahead of Charlie as the most influential player on ground until the 3rd, but 9 is a day in the Park, freakish talent, so bedazzled he’s ours.
JSOS impacted the way we needed to see he could.
An opportunist 2 goal haul and one that required much more talent wise, don’t get the negative on him. He’s a big stage player I reckon, another confidence game.
Nick Newman is one of the best defenders in our club’s history, nit enough love for this combat warrior.
He’s a Simo proto, but with the psycho edge, great to see him hit the scoreboard!
Walshy will get better, how’s that for comfort!👍
Tuff block of games now, a game like tonight, can and should spark a fire in this lineups belly that more than finals is possible, it’s just the belief and trust part we haven’t adapted to as a finished product.
And with that, I bid you adios, look for the positive in life, it helps!✊😎🥴
Agree with all that except this was the 1st game I questioned Jsos a fair few times. I've always been a firm supporter like I am of Ed (who was fabulous!)I thought he looked lost a few times or missed what he should have done. Will watch game again.

Cottrell is the one

Nice to be on the right sight of a genuine shellacking for once. Kept the foot on the throat.

Pretty significant margin too; three figures, 13th highest winning margin ever, biggest since that suns game about 12 years back, and huge compared to Wet Toast’s other games this season.

Lost to Norf by 5 at docklands.
Beat GWS by 19 at optus.
Lost to Freo by 41 at Optus.
Lost to Melb by 63 at optus.
Lost to Cats by 47 in Adelaide.
Lost to Port by 40 in Adelaide.

Last 4 weeks were 6.5-10.5 goal losses against decent sides. 108 is an 18 goal margin, especially at Optus.

All has to be in the context of the team we were playing, so tempered accordingly, however f*** yeah

Cottrell is the one

A number of tweaks that could be made this week and or different combinations

Mots/Owies for Honey

Binns/Cotts for 2 of Fisher, Ed, Hollands

Carroll a smokey after bring managed

Ultimately, don't think there will be too many unforced changes again

No one should dropped from a 108 point win, esp Josh Honey, keep playing him and letting build his confidence, I think we may have a player there (despite the negative nellies) and he deserves a decent block of games at AFL level.

Drop Fisher i had him in the goalkicking comp :moustache:

I liked Kennedy as the sub. 7 touches and a goal and he provided more energy and attack than LOB did.

Given our midfield depth and Cripps, Walsh, Hewitt and Cerra being our primary mids, it will be good for him to learn to play more as a burst player. Collingwood have transitioned some.of their guys this way and if Kennedy can run harder amd with more burst, for shorter stints both midfield and forward, he can become much more effective. Being a sub will help with this, and longer term perhaps he takes on the role Fisher is playing as a forward who has midfield bursts in the second half

Kennedy is also a solid aerialist and i though did ok as a makeshift mid sized defender given he had almosr zero practice there. Makes him as excellent sub option if we gave an injury down back.

Disagree - Honey is building and will be important. He has a beautiful kick and lovely touch that you can’t teach.

Keep him in & it will grow.

Hoping this is what the selection committee see - X factor we need so much up forward. He needs to hit more contests - he’s building.

Our midfield balance with 2 less insiders worked well.

Kennedy & Ed moved out - we looked so much more dynamic on the spread.

Hewitts work much better, poised & contructive as he was last year.

I think we will give the Lions a scare on Friday.

L lo 9999
he's surprisingly quick too, burnt off his direct opponent a couple of time and looked like he could have dropped another gear if needed!
Totally agree and not to mention he looks like a player that wont buckle under pressure. Exactly whst we need more of. Very chilled skillfull player. Loved he's first 2 games.

I was at the game last night and telling everyone within earshot how long it’s been since we’ve had such a commanding victory like that, so accustomed I’ve become to the team not putting inferior opposition away over the years.

I know the Eagles are on their knees but having a win like that is so important for this group. Good sides win big. Hopefully now the boys got a taste of winning big they will want to experience the feeling more often.

And to think, we thought we lost when the pies took Markov from under our feet.

Barely loses a one v one, tackling is just about the best in our team, as clean as anyone below his knees, beautiful kick on both sides.

It’s actually hard to fault him really. Brilliant pick up.
He is our Kane Lambert redemption story --
When you see these types come up as mid age recruits it puts drafting into perspective

Okay.

Some would say that, as a supporter, you cannot take much from a game like this, in which you were so dominant. I am not one of those people; it is only on days like this that you see what your system looks like when things are going completely your way, when you've blown it open. This is the coaches' and the players' ideal, this is what the system should look like operating at full capacity; this is an opportunity for us to see what that looks like and analyse it on that basis.

And on that basis, you can clearly see what Voss has done differently to last year. We are much - MUCH - better organised behind the ball. When we spread, we spread wide and look to split the defense or move sideways multiple times, only going and going fast when it suits us to do it; this juxtaposed to going as quickly as we can at all times, only to run out of steam due to fatigue. Certain players are given a licence to pull off inboard kicks - Cerra, Gov, Weitering, Newman, Cincotta, Acres, Jack - where others - Doc, Fish, Ed, Cripps, Hewitt - aren't. A key forward kicks a bag, with the other either blocking or dragging players away. The defenders are well organised, holding their positions with the wingers holding wide, forming almost a wedge together when we don't have the ball.

In a stoppage situation, we rely on Cripps or Hewitt getting the ball first with Pittonett (not TDK) palming the ball down to where they will be not where they are. They then handpass forward, and either go or handpass backwards after drawing the player to Doc or Cerra.

Honey/Owies' (their roles are identical) role is hit up and pressure; no ****ing wonder they don't get overmuch of the ball. Fish is high half forward, and Durdin is a classic defensive forward flanker, ranging all the way from half back to deep fifty.

The most important component of last night's win - to my mind - is that it was as defensively sound as it was offensively. We had most of the ball and time in possession, yet laid 83 tackles. Beat them in pressure acts. Kept them to 28 points for most of the night, and 44 for the game.

The result should not be overestimated, but at least now we have a clear blueprint of what the gameplan is meant to look like.

Charlie was amazing, nuff said.
JSOS played really well, got some confidence back. Hopefully he has turned the corner.
George returned to good form, best game from him since round one.
Kemp was excellent, hopefully he stays in the team.
Cincotta is fast becoming a fave of mine. Love his clean hands and nice kicking off both sides.
Cerra was terrific, very important player now.
Fish was okay, but the next month will be a real test for him and I think he will be found wanting again.
Honey kicked a nice goal, yet only got it 8 times. Not good enough. He probably goes out for Mots next week.
The Bears are looming large now on Friday night, going to be huge.
Would like to see Boyd come in, even if he is slightly under-done. He would match up nicely on Charlie Cameron.
Just on the honey bit of your post. Best kick for goal at the club. In the Nth game and again last night, as soon as he marked the ball I turned to my daughter and said he can't miss. Just a pity he gets it so little.
