Try and keep your heads held high baggers, this has always been a reason to be ruin my week in the past, and it still absolutely hurts me to my core right now.

It’s the beautiful sadness that comes with being a passionate and loyal supporter like we all are.

So go out this weekend, see the people you love, do whatever makes you happy, don’t let this ruin your week like it always does.

Love you all.

I think its pretty simple and id be surprised if Cook and Sayers werent thinking the same, Voss has 15 weeks to make the 8. We have to be ruthless and move him on if we have gone backwards and miss finals. I truly believe the talent is there and we cannot waste this list. This is 100% on Coaching.

When you actually look back at the first 10 weeks of last year there was a hell of a lot of luck involved and 2 or 3 very poor performances amongst them.

He has 15 weeks to find something.

Lots of positives to take out of tonight’s game - only lost to a top four side by four goals - so that’s really only a goal a quarter we have to find - we found new avenues to goals as our talls were held, with Motlop and Durdin contributing 2 goals each.

Just a little more consistency should see us winning these close contests - we’re still a work in progress.
Don't kid yourself. This was not a close contest. Brisbane asserted their dominance through the 2nd and 3rd when the game was in the balance and got out to an unlooseable 40 point lead.

A few junk time goals to us doesn't make it a close contest

yeah a very limited player and dont forget ssloooow ..real sloooow - also ignore the massive bruise still on the outside of his leg - clearly injured - but still good for 13 touches 4 tackles and goal in a quarter all doner real sloooooow of course - because 'limitations...

just go away son.

Mate, you're really hurting tonight. I suggest you take a breather.

I just cannot see it. So many players are just not good enough and we do not play as a team. Just a bunch of individuals
Precisely. In the past year & bit we have rarely played with any chemistry & instinct. Won most games on individual brilliance.

This cohesion should come. And so will the disposal under pressure. So plenty of upside.

Biggest issue is we seem to have to work really hard to score goals when we're on top and when not concede them very easily. Not sure if that's gameplan or personel, probably both.

We were the better team in the 1st and 4th quarters plus half the 2nd but barely outscored them in that time. They were better in the 3rd and blew us away.

On the plus side Cerra is a serious player.

Another plus is I've started caring less when we lose though that is probably an indictment on the team. As a supporter who started watching in 03/04 this team has brought pretty much nothing but disappointment. Need to stop investing emotional energy into them.

I do wonder though, if you're gonna insist on subbing a key defender, maybe Weiters tonight before Young?

First of all lions are a top 2-4 team.

Second we seem to pick and choose when we play which is infuriating.

Lots and lots of passengers tonight,Cripps/Walsh/Weiters to name a few.

We simply can’t play ECurnow and Honey anymore and I think our backline looks better without Young.

Mitch/Kemp/Weitering is enough.

Lastly Voss has no gears when it comes to coaching.Dosent seem to read the game.

We are at this stage bottom of the 8 at best.

When is this board being dismissed?

The President stated finals was expected in 2022, it didn’t happen and won’t again this year.

This board passed over Ross Lyon in favour of a “process”. That process is in tatters.

Carlton needs to trade McKay and Cripps - we aren’t playing finals in any case - why not take a punt on some top draft talent?

Voss should go but is safe. Carlton isn’t a good team nor a bad team.

But let’s see the club stop focusing on causes and focus on winning. Voss was a legendary player but doesn’t bring the same intensity nor has the tactical mindset necessary.

But Sayers and the board must stand down - they have failed. Men’s and women’s programs are in frightful shape.

Okay.

As with everything, it's the hope that kills you. See, in quarters 1 and 4, we were their match. They dragged us into a wrestle in the second - our first lost second term for the season - and smashed us on turnover in the third. We came at them late, they lacked the legs and power to go with us but there was too much work to do.

During the week, I said that by rights they should be winning tonight. But the reason they won - as much as anything else - is due to us missing field kicks from unpressured situations, and spoils in defense going to bad positions. Some of that is due to coaching - if a team rule for spoiling is to go for distance, why is the ball only travelling 5 metres? If the rule is to spoil boundary side, why are you belting the thing into the corridor? If the rule is to go for marks, WTF are you doing spoiling? - and other is poor technique. Weitering's form is poor, Young started well but made some pretty eggregious errors. Gov is not playing tall this year, and while he's taking marks he's not taking mental amounts of contested ball in the air; Kemp is finding the ball and looking good right up until he goes to kick the thing.

I think there was always going to be a bit of a list recalibration over this off season. The list is still SOS' list; there are still the players that haven't come on hanging round. Docherty is playing midfield due to sheer lack of pace around the ball; Hollands hasn't missed a game due to sheer lack of options on the wing or half forward. Honey is only playing due to Owies being injured, and Owies only because we've no-one better. Our midfield group is slow, and Pittonett is probably not tall enough to be the ruck without also providing around 5 tackles a game for all that he's a excellent tap.

I don't know how we train for conditions, but we looked like we were playing in slippery conditions and Brisbane didn't. Snaps connected with the belly of the ball when we took shots; field kicks squirted off the sides of boots; players who we know as reliable field kicks missed by metres.

I also don't know why our plan A was to try to handpass our way through their pressure.

Still, we can take a few things from tonight's game. Motlop and Durdin work, but neither are the centrepiece of a small forward battery; we need another one, and one more consistently dangerous. Cerra is our most damaging midfielder, and proved it tonight. Acres is - ****ing somehow - our most important player structurally; if he's on we're on, if he's shanking them we're ****ed.

Think the coaches also need to have a look at how opposition players ragdoll and scrag our boys without repercussion. Hollands gets smashed every week, and there's no real retaliation or compensation for it. If the umpires will not defend you you need to defend yourselves; what that means is sometimes we need to get a little nasty, whether that means a few suspensions and losing someone for a month.

Tonight is disappointing, but if they are to be the real deal they needed to beat us. That things went this way is unsurprising.

The following three supposedly blue chip players simply do not have the mental game to carry this team to a premiership:

Weitering
Cripps
McKay

All guns on paper. But hugely fragile upstairs. And it is killing us.

I agree, the green shoots era killed them. Now just losers with a loser mentality.

Worst game I’ve seen Cripps play in years. No more excuses for Jack Silvagni, he is simply not good enough.
Pull yer head in mate. Jsos was top 5. Walsh, Weiters, H, Chaz, and the Skip were all well below in terms of output and effort. It's hard to watch when a sub plays a quarter and a bit and is in the best.
At least Jack never gives up. Same cannot be said for most of the others. Probably BOG to qtr time, spent time in more positions than a $5 wh%re and played them all with aplomb.

We have a terrible game plan, no plan B, players who cannot execute u der pressure, give hot hand balls all the time, are turn over merchants when u der no pressure.

I could go on but I’m tired and worse than that I’m sick and tired. We have gone miles backwards from the e. Icing brand of football we were playing last year. Now we are just slow and indecisive which leads me to believe our dumb footballers just don’t get the game plan. They looked confused out there tonight.

Sick and tired of the false dawns and player promises that they thing this year is the year …… u til the players realise what they need to do and work amazingly hard to get there, I’m just done…. Stick a fork in me.

I'm talking Walsh and Weitering. They're supposed to be the very few of our best ball users.

What on Earth happened with them tonight? Absolutely stunk it up with the disposal.

Weitering has been below average since he busted his shoulder vs the Pies. Creeping closer and closer to being a liability this season. Those lazy kicks he does shit me to tears.

So far off the superstar he once was.

The problem my friend is that we've been a work in progress like FOREVER !
