I'm concerned that the club is still not actually a football club. I wasn't a supporter through the 'old Carlton' era. I was too young to remember. My concerns are founded in players who have good strong traits seemingly lose them over time, performances are consistently inconsistent, player leadership seems inconsistent and the off field still smells of infighting with the mixed leaks re Lyon, the Mathieson hit job etc. Just doesn't seem a happy place.
To the contrary, think the club has been a happy place for some years, limited players out by design & players wanting in, maybe just complacency has set in with it expected to just click but we’ve been shown up & not playing any great football.

It must be a pretty happy house to be honest.

Where else can you get so massively overpaid based on 'potential' as Carlton? Where else are expectations so low that you can kick one goal in a half and the coach will still talk about 'learnings' rather than booting you into next week. And you get September off for holidays with the kids every year!

Or, even better - get yourself on the injury lidt with a 'calf'. You can miss 8, 10, 12 weeks and the club will just say you are 'returning to skills training' while you sit at home and get paid not to play. No media scrutiny, no running at training, the suppporters hype you up in your absence as the second coming... no wonder half our list haven't played consective matches in 4 years....

Pretty sweet gig if you are a career footballer who just wants to get paid and get home...

It is a practice game, so I'm comfortable hovering between 80%-90%, but the problem right now is we're at 50%-60%.
So, letting the kids play their natural game, getting a good look at them, and making a shopping list. 👍

Prob 2 of Ed, Fog, Boyd, Kemp to come out - one for sub, the other as backup.

Others not named this week:
Rested (assumedly): Fisher, Dow, Plowman, Binns, Akuei, Lemmey, Mirkov
Injured: Cuningham, TDK, Big Durds, Marchbank (+ Williams, Philp)

I understand it was a VFL bye and this game was a glorified exhibition game but IMO it’s pretty disappointing the likes of Fisher and Dow didn’t put their hand up to play in this game.

Both should be desperate to find any chance to get back into the top side. It gives the impression that both are pretty comfortable with where they are at and not driven to improve.

Given they didn’t play this weekend neither should be considered for selection for the Pies game IMO. I can’t see anyone from yesterdays game being called up aside from maybe Boyd and Martin.

Did Martin get through unscathed?
I think Windows1 said he looked good.
He’s one that IF we can get right makes a difference to our team.

Can't imagine Fish and Dow couldn't be bothered playing.
We might have been requested not to play our strongest line up?

When VFL is on, I'm always at local footy or on the train to the AFL game...

For the VFL watchers...
Under Power, do the VFL team play a carbon copy of Voss's game plan and style?
Similar but different - build up isn’t as slow, tend to be more fluid in transition, clearance & attack from it is more fluid.
It’s hard to compare as we have a monster tap ruckman palming it to best mid in the comp - makes clearance a lot easier. Back line is also pretty good given the quality in it (Plow, Cinc, Durdin, Kemp, Parks, Boyd, Leiu etc) you’ve also got LOB, Binns running around so they transition pretty well.
Biggest thing they share is the key forward doing ****all & missing - Crocker has been horrible.
TLDR - I’d say they playing a more attacking style but have the cattle to do it. Same same but a bit quicker more corridor.
That’s just how I see it, there’s likely a few differing views Arr0w what's your take?

Wouldn’t it be beneficial for the VFL to play a copy of Voss's game plan and style? So players are ready and know the role once called apon?

Sydney even do this with their Academy kids, they are ready to go once drafted…

Marchy 👍
