Sheezel will play round 1 at a guess. Wardlaw would be 50:50. We are taking 4 national draft picks. Wardlaw, sheezel,? And Cooper Harvey. That leaves us 4 spots for the rookie draft/SSP. Word is we are going with mature guys with those last 4 spots. North's depth is terrible. 25 touches last year in the vfl had players banging the door down. The mature players should help with that.
Of this year's crop Cowen looks the best defender rookie. Magary medal winner.

Sonsie played 6 games (+13 in VFL) so he ain't getting any injury discount, is gonna cost more than Hopper so scratch him off.

What's Clarko's record at HAW of throwing Rookies in early season ......IIRC not great

Sheezel likely to play FWD ....so not sure he'll be a good SC Rookie selection

I should have done more research on Sonsie .....my bad, thought he only played 2-3 games

Yep not a great record as far as playing rookies early goes. Sheezel has an excellent tank and seems ready to go. His competition for spots is with people like Mahoney and lazarro. Much easier to get picked as a forward. He had multiple 200 point games in the under 18s this year playing forward. I reckon he is a lock. He might even get DPP. I won't be taking multiple 200k rookies this year like last year. For me he is leading the pack at that price range.

A couple from the Tigers from last years draft Sam Banks and Tom Brown that have re-signed until 2025.
I'm really looking forward to Brown playing he is the best of the bunch from last years draft.

I was hoping Brown for 2022 .....agree, will be a great option

Not sure if Will Phillips fits into this section being a 3rd year player next year. He had two bouts of glandular fever this year so didn't play an AFL game after playing 16 in his first year. I'm pretty sure that Clarko wanted him at the Hawks so he should get plenty of games next year and should still have DPP from this year Fwd/Mid. He was priced at $260k so with a 30% discount should be max $180k
Maybe buttox might have some more info on how he is going?

Absolutely fits the Rookie discussion .....apparently super fit, and you'd imagine his JS should be OK

I think players picked 2nd Round onwards are $117k and the $123k players are 2nd Year players

Yep, this is correct.

First pick starts at $207,300, each subsequent pick in the first round is $4,500 cheaper.

Everyone from the second round onwards is $117,300.

Anyone that's been on the list without debuting is priced at $123,900 (Most players, typically 1/2 gamers, that averaged 23ppg and under are also priced at this as a minimum).

Genuine rookie picks are $102,400.

He started his preseason before the grand final. Him archer and comben started early. He is noticeably bigger and looks ready to go. Watchlist is about the best you can be this time of year with a new coach and new game plan. He is definitely on that. Let's see what role he plays before locking him in though North have a lot of midfielders.

Joe Richards would be straight into a team's 22 you would reckon, and cost 117,300

toxic

Richards gonna be a freebie of he gets to the right club.

Will be aiming to pick 0 of these high rookie picks bar Ashcroft. Year on year these high picks rarely work as SC starting picks.
I'm probably not picking Ashcroft. Will he get touches with Neal, McBigbags, Rayner, Coleman, and Rich taking up the possessions? It's not like Daicos had to compete with a Brownlow-level accumulator last year.

I might go with the Hawks mid if they are looking like getting regular games, whether that's Tsatas or Mackenzie. Similarly with Wardlaw if he gets the nod and they are confident on his hammies.

I’d argue you don’t want to be that guy who doesn’t pick Ashcroft, everyone else has him and if the pick fires then gg. He’s down the pecking order but he should be a decent on field option

On the contrary, if he ends up a massive anti-pod I'll be able to gloat so much harder. The difference between him at pick 1 (if he goes there) and a 2nd year/2nd round rookie is a big upgrade. If I'm fitting in Clarry, Laird, Steele, Macrae, Touk, and Tom Green with Dunkley, Taranto, premium defenders and decent rucks I'm happy to cut a rookie.

I guess the two WC boys have the best chance at a run of games?
In order of who I reckon will get games early:

Lock 'em in for games:
Sheezel
Mackenzie
Wardlaw
Cadman

More likely than not:
Ashcroft
Humphrey
Ginbey
Hewett
Weddle
Tsatas

Good Preseason, a few injuries, and they're in:
Phillipou
Busslinger
Hollands
Rowston
Konstanty

Reserves until the Byes:
Clark
Fletcher
Jefferson
Allan
Michalanney
