Got home from the game and just enjoyed a happy early dinner. A couple of things stood out to me. Firstly Kemp, he was just fantastic. Doch played a great game as well. Cerra continued his great year and there were very real signs that Walsh is starting to get back into it. Great overall effort and a scintillating second quarter. As for as the future of Vossy is concerned, I would call it a stay of execution. We ain't going to make finals but what happens in the last couple of months of the season will seal his future. The gap between our best and worst football is too great

Very good win, I'll be honest at quarter time I was expecting another long day.

At half time, I was waiting for GC to rally and Voss to drop his bundle because he has struggled to react to the change in tactics from opposition coaches. I don't know if it's a case of he is working on this (fingers crossed 🤞)and it resulted in him handling the GC change in tactics or that Stuart Dew is a similar type of coach so what changes he made didn't really impact.

Probably a bit of both and it also helped that the teams kicking boots were on today.

I'm still not sold on Voss but if he can learn to react live to team changes & tactics then he could potentially be a coach for the future. Here's hoping this is the case because I am sick of the coach turnover process

I don't think there should be any changes after the bye but I would really like to see if Dow is the missing piece to the midfield through a full game at some point. Mainly so we aren't sitting their wondering if it was the right move, moving him on at years end. Also it could potentially help us reach finals next year.

Our midfield was better than it’s been since probably the round 2 game v Geelong.

That plus increased confidence when we slotted some goals, suddenly ball moving in quicker;l, with more purpose and to better positions.

We had previously just been in a rut in general for a variety of reasons. We are a mid range side, just need to keep playing together and some nice new pacey additions to progress higher.
Keep that run and gun stuff going Blues and I'm sure those whingers will stfu.

Great to see mongrel, risk-taking and faster ball transition today. (**** ups)

A win we really needed. Much better intent today. Our midfield looked more like the early 2022 version with centre clearance dominance, especially in the second quarter.

Cerra BOG again.

Good to get a spread of goalkickers which we haven’t seen for a while.

Liked the games of some of the lesser lights like Kemp, Cincotta, Boyd, Cottrell and Fogarty.

Cuningham is still a classy footballer. We just need to keep him on the park going forward.

Martin very impactful today too.

Liked TDKs game today. Think he can grow into his forward craft if he stays and if we keep the same setup. It looked better with Pitto and TDK and no JSOS. We were stronger in the ruck. Our mids got their share of first ball use and as a result our forward line operated better with more space for players to lead into. TDK because of his height and athleticism definitely is a bigger aerial threat than JSOS and stretches the opposition defence.

Where I’ve criticised him a lot has been in his hunger and willingness to compete but I thought he was fantastic today.

Cerra was huge. Having a great season. Cripps also awesome today. Glad to see Walsh have more impact today as well.

Final observation. We definitely looked better with the slightly shorter backline (no Young). Feel like it gave the players more confidence to be creative and attack. Kemp will be a beauty.
Pretty much the first time I've ever seen TDK play and I walked away thinking - this guy can actually play.

Good on him and should he desire to leave come season's end, efforts like today certainly will push up his price!

Happy to get a win.. but i've walked away with Eagles games vibes.

When there was heat in the game early we simply didn't look like we were up for the contest. Well beaten at stoppage. Dominated for field position. Were lucky to only be 10pts down at the first break. I don't know what Dew said/did at quarter time but the Suns completely switched off from there. Zero pressure or intensity in Q2. They were a mess. We excecuted well but admittedly the Suns barely put up a fight.

We've proven we can put very poor sides to the sword and I've put this game down as one of them.

One of the best thing to come out of today is Voss gets a reprieve for the media. Pitchforks will be out for Dew this week big time.

Good to see the team working as a unit. Plenty of unselfish goals, blocks and team coverage…Best of all goals from the midfield!!!
Except Walshy. Yeah.
Walshy would benefit from playing more selflessly. Nice to see him improve so much today.

Sometimes it just presence. He gets attention and that allows the other forwards to get to work as well. Something Durdin and Motlop havent been offering unfortunately.
Durds or Motts would also thrive in the forward line with Martin and Cunners in there.

I 'm sure I've watched plenty of games showcasing TDK's promise and talent.

Worked well today.
Didn't miss either of them.

We need to trade one of Kennedy and Hewett and it's looking more and more like Kennedy is the better player. Swans saw where the game was going and how important leg speed was becoming, big reason why he was so easy to get IMO.

There's still room for the good but slow mid in a team, just not as much room as there use to be.

I think the mix we had today was pretty good. Would love a way to squeeze Dow into the team. Add another fast player who can impact the stats sheet. I'd be playing Dow ahead of Hewett at this stage. We need to really embrace speed.

You take out Young and just go with McGovern and Kemp. You stick with Boyd, Cincotta, Saad and Docherty and don't do stupid moves such as Kennedy in defence and it makes a massive difference.

You take Motlop, Fisher and Silvagni out of the forward line who are either unfit, slow or won't tackle. Send Curnow and McKay back to the full forward line where they play their best, add a proper forward/Ruck who also plays a good game at CHF and a few quick players such as Fogarty, Cuningham and Martin. It really changes things.

At one stage I was struggling to find quicker players in our team, now struggling to find the slower ones. The pressure was up, the defenders played better because of it, the forwards were good because of the fast play and they in turn applied far better pressure.

Some good changes structurally. We may have to play Young on the odd occasion but we are better off being quicker and more skilled.

Fast legs, high midfield rotations, McKay and Curnow deep with someone else playing CHF, A proper forward ruck, good tacklers, getting the ball in the hands of the better kicks. We've made a lot of changes in a short period of time to get the team up to speed.

Loved how we played today but no way should we be looking at mucking up what we have begun to build here.

The only player I would be thinking could come into that team and make an impact would be Williams, Marchbank, Dow, Motlop if he can take his fitness to another level, Hollands, Durdin and Cowan. Those who can run and will apply pressure.

Fog is not quick. He can hold a tackle though.
