VFL 2023 Sandringham Zebras

Sandringham or the St Kilda seconds, call it whatever you like, is not the place for promising young footballers to improve their skills. We’ve been getting walloped for years. Weather aside today was the sort of depressing experience that has become Sandy’s specialty.
It’s hard to believe that we can’t afford 2 or 3 better vfl standard players who could bring enough structure to the side to give our kids an opportunity to play with purpose and a fair chance to win.

If big blokes take a while to develop, then Heath and Keeler are going to take a decade at Sandy if they want them playing that fwd/ruck combo position.

Exactly. Playing forward is standing by yourself watching the opposition win the ball and kick goals.
Playing back at Sandy, in fairness, you get to see plenty of it. Perhaps Van Es will profit from our sheer uselessness.

The same way people love Ziebell in fantasy racking up the intercept possessions or kick outs cause the ball lives there

I know this is a Sandy thread, but I tried to cast sbs onto TV last night. And at first I had sound but the wrong episode. I changed episodes and then no sound. Tried a different phone, different port, different app, no sound. Any ideas what to do?
When you ask for help, it helps to be specific about what you used and did.
ie I casted from my android's chrome browser to my tv via chromecast. Or from an iPhone's SBS app via firestick etc.
Often, when being more specific, you work out a way to logically work out where the problem is for yourself.
If no phones, PCs, or any combination of apps work, for any TV programs, you could try resetting the device to factory settings and reinstalling. If that doesn't work, either your device is f'd, or you need your great great grandkids to come help :)

I'll move the question to the general random thread and be more specific,( thanks i actually thought i was:think:). no kids, so no grandkids, and my partner is not electronic savy!!!!:)

We simply need to start investing money in a reserves team .

Unpopular opinion I know but funny how Sandy were good with Melbourne and now Casey have been good with Melbourne yet both have been crap with St Kilda .

Clearly Sandringham don’t have resources or appeal to recruit any decent players so we need to either put the money in or take over recruiting as they are an absolute shambles.

Sponsor a Sandy player who works with us so got their financials sent thorough and they were better off than I thought they would be .

Sandy are totally reliant on St Kilda listed players their listed players are not up to scratch.

Either invest in Sandy or go seperate as our players cannot develop the way it currently is.

Totally agree look at Southport they are a team full of ex AFL players or very good VFL players they must be paying good $$$ for. Our continued long injury list hasnt helped, but if it wasnt for Tom Campbell Sandringham would be getting walloped every week. Surely the club has to identify this as an issue and at some point address it. Spend some money on decent VFL support players...we don't even hang onto ex-Saints players.

Not many hang onto ex players. They normally go somewhere different

Improving the performance of our VFL team needs to be a serious goal next season and beyond.

No doubt having a highly competitive reserves team helps with player development and we don't have that.

It could become a tool to get a look at players for midseason elevation etc. Spending money chasing guys like Ethan Phillips gives you a bunch of games where you test him against AFL standard players for example. We wouldn't have to pick-pocket Carlton if we did our own VFL recruitment drive. Lots of the clubs put in mature ex AFL players who are like playing coaches.

We have neglected so many areas of the footy department that we don't even see the failings of them away more.

I don't mind if Sandy wins or loses, the interest is purely about developing future/fringe/squad St Kilda players and building/maintaining match fitness for injured/suspended/dropped seniors. Also building synergy between certain players and getting them used to the professional level of the sport.

Batchelor's primary concern has to be the above, and if that means compromising game plan or result, then c'est la vie.

The cliche is that you learn a lot more from losing than you do from an easy win. I don't think losing a lot is very beneficial, obviously it's better to learn what works.

But the nature of Sandy is that the line up won't have much consistency and the momentum is disrupted with all the byes and it's always hard to build something like that. I guess other teams gave the same issue and deal with it much better, but how is their player development?
