Just listened to today’s presser and he is so far ahead of anyone with his knowledge we are in good hands
Don't worry I am stupid

watch me reel them all in with that comment

Especially if Lethlean thought that his list was primed and Lyon has come in and shat on it. If Lyon is threatening to start major changes it looks bad for Lethers.
Seriously if anyone at the club thought at the start of the season that our list was even remotely close to being good enough to do any damage they should just walk away now as they have NFI
At very best we scrape into 8th but we would just get smashed first week , there are a lot of players on our list that if they were on another teams list you would never mention them let alone rate them

Honestly, I'm more concerned with leadership on-field.

I think off-field the boys are ok. They're fit and strong.

It's not that they are slackers, for mine it's the fact no one stands up on the game day and says, "This is not good enough that's not how we want to play" and gives instructions, etc. I think the blokes are not good at giving feedback or directing others and just go along with the flow too much.

I know it goes back a long way but there has been a noticeable drop-off in onfield leadership since Roo and Joey retired I think. We actually played some decent footy under Richo in their last couple of years before everything went to s**t at the end of 2017.
100% we need a couple of players who just put a line in the sand and say we are going to impact the game right now - think Gawn & Petracca 3rd Quarter against Brisbane - single-handedly stopped Brisbane’s dominance.

Probably the best people to do this are midfielders yet Windy & Owens in reality probably aren’t ready to do this just yet. Don’t forget Gawn and Petracca weren’t world beaters early on.

Though I do think there is nothing more true than “you play as you train” - if these guys can show the way in training we are heading in the right direction and more likely to translate that to game day.

Fair enough that Ross understands the issues but fixing them is the actual problem. We've been poor like this for 10 weeks, but especially poor on entry as he's openly admitted. It's all well and good understand what the issues are but the ability to fix them is another thing entirely.

No we have been like this for 10 years and it’s going take longer then 18 games to fix

Ross Lyon has denied there is a growing rift within St Kilda but he admits the change he has brought to the club in his second stint as coach may have made some staff uncomfortable.
Lyon categorised his relationship with chief executive Simon Lethlean as “fine” after media reports this week suggested the pair weren’t as tight as they should be.
Upon his return as senior coach at Moorabbin, Lyon upended much of the football department and he admitted his “new regime” could have left some inside the club uneasy.
The Saints started brilliantly by winning their first four games this year but have gone 5-8 since, with their spot in the top eight under jeopardy heading into the final weeks of the season.
“Clearly when I’ve been transitioning into the club, there has been a new regime in football,” Lyon said.
“Things are done differently and there are changes, teams are disbanded.
“There has been some change and with change, I wouldn’t say there is unhappiness but sometimes not everyone is comfortable with change.
“From my end and Simon’s end, we are fine. We have common friends and people professionally we have worked with.”

When asked if his relationship with Lethlean was strong enough, Lyon said “I think so”.

Figures within St Kilda were surprised at reports of a rift between the pair.
“I haven’t had one raised word with Simon since I have been here so that is the truth, or Simon with me to be truthful,” Lyon said.
The Saints coach forecast a raft of changes this week after a disappointing defeat on the Gold Coast last weekend.
He said goalkicker Jack Higgins (knee) would come back in to face lowly North Melbourne on Sunday, while Jack Billings (thumb) would come back in if he could prove his fitness.
Tall Jack Hayes is under consideration after foot and hamstring issues kept him sidelined for the entire season so far, as Lyon searches for more scoreboard impact. The Saints have kicked exactly eight goals in three of their past four matches.
“We are a conundrum, we move the ball really well typically all year from one end of the ground to the other, so I don’t think we are stodgy from that respect,” he said.

He is excellent to listen to. Shows a clear understanding of issues and also takes responsibility as the coaching group to improve. Doesn't take the easy option and go on about pressure and effort. If our players have the want and ability I'm confident this coaching group will get it out of them.

I think we both agreed we missed finals by a game last year and expectation is finals this year, should be the goal this year and form from early in season shows we can put it all together, need to find that again

He's just so calm and in control of the media pack compared with the easily flustered lot who proceeded him.

There used to be a level of trepidation pressing the play button on these pressers, particularly when the team was going poorly. But now I just can't wait to watch RTB in total command

What else is going to happen with a new coach? If he didn't like it, he should have moved on.
Been at the club long enough anyway.

I listen to Steele speak and struggle to imagine him yelling, or at least speaking loudly and forcefully. That's just the way he comes across.

Perhaps some of those who have regularly attended training may have more insight on this.
Steele just comes across as someone who wants to be liked by everyone, not necessarily respected by everyone. Feel like he tries to be the nice guy and everyone's best friend.
Probably a bloody great bloke but when it comes to uncompromising standards and getting everyone on the same page I don't think he's good enough as an AFL captain.
For me Owen's looks like the one who will grow into that role. Just has that "if no one else will do it then I will" attitude" reckon he'll be the spiritual leader in a year or 2 at the very least.

Yeah we need a bit of a hard nut Captain. Doogs would fit the bill but he can’t hold it up on the field. Wilkie would be good but I think he’s a bit like Steelo and wouldn’t be able to disconnect from the group when he needs to. Kingy might be alright, Jones would be great but can’t keep on the field.
I think Sinkers is the man.

I'm tipping this
Feathers have been ruffled a little me thinks

Too bad
Time he ****ed off anyway imo
Jobs for the boys club appointment originally
