If they want to raise money management has to start getting sponsors who are willing to keep injecting money into the club not just a one off.
Look at big cooperates , or even big name singers who would be willing to put on a concert for the club , I'm sure that Sheeran guy would be in it if his arm was twisted.
Hitting the average Joe for funds is not the way when people are stretched just to pay there rent or mortgage.
Time for these board members do something for the club.
disagree here ... asking the people who have the deepest emotional connection to the club in the members for some cash cost the club very very little and what ever they make from it would be pumped straight into the club .. anything Sponsor related would have some sort of cost involved businesses dont just throw cash away they will see a sponsorship as some sort of investment of some sort so there would be a return expected for their funds
things like concerts are great for generating money but upfront costs are massive and something we prob couldnt float as a club.. its a great idea but the upfront costs and risk of it would see it never get off the ground ...

look what you are saying is 100% right asking members for cash is not going to solve all the issues in one swoop we still need long term rewarding sponsors and totally thinking outside the square for fund raising is a smart idea .. but there is no harm in asking the people who hold the most emotional buy in if they can spare some change ...

as for the Board .. realistically us average joe supporters really have no idea who contributes financially or how much their contribution is the reality is board members may be contributing significant dollars to the club its just not advertised.. for example i know the previous executive team contributed out of their own pockets to the DFC but it was not something the club felt the need to advertise as who donates what is really between the donater and the club

True. But also Fox is worth $4.35 billion. He's doubled his fortune in 10 years. Literally could make the Saints the richest club with barely a blip to his personal dragons hoard. Could be done in Linfox shares. Imagine that balance sheet asset plus yearly dividend.

We did this fundraising thing a few years ago and it went **** up. It's a good little bonus for the club (using the money people donate to go into footy dept) but doubt it makes a big difference. We just need to keep winning games.

Andrew Basset is worth even more than that but in reality it’s up to the club to get out of debt..after all, sadly the club has been mismanaged for the bulk of it’s existence.

But Owen, who remains estranged from the club, and other survivors are considering launching civil litigation claims to address the fallout of their abuse.

In April 2022, St Kilda partnered with In Good Faith Foundation to provide support services to survivors, and staged a "loud fence" day at which survivors and the family members of deceased victims tied ribbons to the Moorabbin fence.

In response to feedback from survivors, the AFL club also removed a display that commemorated the St Kilda Little League at the club's Moorabbin headquarters.

given the recent 6m compensation claim the western bulldogs are facing i think this should be a bigger story than it is.

Holistically yes, no doubt, specifically, the Doggies are getting directly named and cited, this is slightly different as the pedo already plead guilty, he just died before any punishment and remuneration could be handed out.

At present at least, there's less association of blame on us as a club than there is with the Dogs situation.
