Are the player issued jumpers as tight now as 10 years ago? Ive got a Ahmed Saad player jumper and that thing is way too tight to ever consider wearing even if i was at my fittest.

I'm not a memorabilia guy at all. I sold my 1997 wooly Toohey's jumper with Winmar's signature to someone on here that wanted a long sleeve. It was the one I had when I was young. My son has a few old jumpers that he got signed when he was a kid. One is Stuv's match worn jumper that he got Spencer White to sign when he was a little tacker. Probably devalued it by 90%. They used to sell them for $30 or something at the season launches.
Yep probably the wrong guy signed it. Jack was probably the guy that needed to sign the jumper. I’m very unpopular with this opinion but once you are over 25 you shouldn’t wear a footy jumper unless playing. That opinion upsets a lot of people.

I'm 100% with you on that. Unless you want to look like a criminal stay away from player wear once you hit 25.

My prized possession is an original 66 memorabilia item in the form of a timber plaque with an oval on it and the premiership players located with engraved silver badges and the score. It used to hang on the wall up in the old Halos room and I've had it since the last game at Moorabbin.
Actually just thought of other things I have. Carpet from the old long room and turf from the old mcg wickets. And Martin McCague English test jumper.

Nothing is sadder than seeing overweight middle aged blokes wearing one of their teams jumpers that are a few sizes too small for them.

I've only ever worn Saints polo shirts to games, you can wear them elsewhere as well while with jumpers you can really only wear them to games.

My son was a skinny little rake and the Stuv jumper was tight but went to his knees. They make them super tight.

That’s exactly how I see us. Everyone is different. Hard to argue we aren’t losers. We own nearly every bad record in the afl. The article sort of says that. And we do continue to support. No other club could expect more loyalty with our terrible record.
I don’t feel cheated, I don’t feel like we’re losers. I feel like st Kilda have provided me with a lifetime of fantastic memories. I’ve seen some of the greatest players ever to play the game run out in the saints jumper. I also feel like in general the saints have the games best supporters. Supporters who barrack as hard as any but can still have a laugh, win, loose or draw and turn up next week.

That’s exactly what adults should wear not that I do but that is perfectly fine. I occasionally wear a hat. That’s about it.

Never said cheated. Not once have I been cheated. I couldn’t give a stuff about the club losing many games for years. I’m lucky my dad followed the saints. I’m lucky I live 5 k from Moorabbin. I’m lucky I had involvement at the club in grand final years and bottom of the ladder years. I still say we have great supporters and we are a losing club. I will change it from loser club.

I had four of the match worn jumpers, one for each of the kids. Apart from that we’re talking caps and scarfs, I’m not really into it.

I've got a 1980s Saints mug with the stickman crest on it thst I use regularly. It'll be a sad day when thst one breaks. Aside from that, just the usual membership stuff.

I quite fancy thst 150 scarf with Saints written in that awesome font, but don't really have the cash for it at the moment, maybe later in the year. I hope it's not sold out before then.

EDIT: here it is, weathered by hundreds of thousands of washes but still very much present, much like the club itself. View attachment 1653153

“It’s wonderful to be a St Kilda past player and engulf yourself in their history. But St Kilda, because of that (lack of success), celebrate players,” Brereton explained.

“Hawthorn, as much as we love our players, we celebrate success of premierships, and there’s a big difference in the psyche of where you walk into somewhere, you can feel it.

“The thing about Hawthorn, it’s always been bigger than the players… it is about team success.

I couldn't agree more with Dermy here. That's why I'm convinced we've got the right coach. He'll bring respect for the jumper back and change our culture so we revere our club and team long term, and big players dont feel like they're doing us a favour playing for us.

I bought Jack Mayo signed socks for $50 when the saints were fundraising for the bushfires in 2019.

The ironic thing is that Brereton and some of those other premiership winning Hawthorn players could have been St Kilda players if it wasn't for the change in zoning which sent them to Hawthorn instead. A sliding doors moment there, we could have been like them and they could have been like us.

St Kilda appeals to rebels and counter culture types because we aren't same as other clubs. I grew up in a family of Carlton supporters and back when I was a kid there were only Carlton and Essendon fans at my school. I followed the Saints and was given plenty of shit because of it but I liked being different.

Other sides are vanilla or beige and follow a path. St Kilda is messy and ill-disciplined, we don't do things that we are meant to but it's also what makes us anarchic, left of centre and interesting.

Other club supporters try to make Saints fans feel insecure about our history but when you've spent 150 years with a "**** em" attitude, why starting giving a shit now. I enjoy the point of difference that being a Saints gives you.

Treasures aren't treasures if you can buy them in every shop. Our journey is different and I wouldn't want to be with any other club, it's better to be unique than some straight arse dullard. We sail on emotional oceans while they dip their toes in a puddle and think they've seen the world.

One of the reasons I chose to support St Kilda growing up in WA was that I didn't want to be like almost everyone else here and support West Coast.

I needed to find another AFL club to support and St Kilda appealed to me as they were the perennial underdogs that were starved of success and it seemed like more of a challenge to support them rather than taking the easy path of supporting West Coast who quickly went on to be successful.

I also liked the St Kilda players at the time with the likes of Lockett, Harvey, Loewe, Winmar and Burke and despite our team from that era not winning premierships like West Coast did they still played finals and were great to watch so I don't have any regrets choosing St Kilda instead of West Coast.

My mate is mates with Sammy Fisher and got Sammy to donate his retro jumper to me all signed up to our Sainter from Mt Isa.

Plus someone bought me a Woolen jumper for my birthday signed by The Doc, Yabby and Stewart with photos of them doing the signing.

Plus I won a signed cap from some draw in here but can’t remember who signed it.
That’s about the extent of my collection.

Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on them socks but.
