I still feel Perez has something to offer. Maybe defence isn't his go, maybe he just needs another preaseason, I don't know but has has the look of a modern footballer who just can't quite get it going
He's on shaky ground but he's one of a handful that I'd be comfortable giving an extension if we need bodies. I don't want all our depth to be 18.

Not sure how you lumped this years pick 20 with the JHF pick when it had nothing to do with it. We lost last year's second rounder in the CCJ trade the year before (which was an incredibly bad trade) and last year we chose to get back into the second round by trading the F2 to grab George. I would say that our JHF trade was actually a very good deal for the club, not only allowing us to get Wardlaw while essentially swaping JHF for Sheezel, but also grabbing Port's first rounder basically offsets us not having our own second round pick this year.

Back to this year's draft however, I would say that given the state of our list, I would be happy to go all in this year and potentially trading the F1 to fast track our build. It's time to start climbing the ladder and if we think we are ready to do that, then F1 isn't untouchable any more.

My mistake, it was our future 3rd we traded out in the JHF trade. I still don't think it was a great deal, despite being over the moon with Sheezel and Wardlaw.

Yeah, we traded out 2023 second round and our 2022 4th round pick for Crows second round pick last year during the draft. That was reasonable as we rated George high enough to take that gamble.

Trading future 1st has a lot of risk, if we can trade it out for a top 5 pick and we can climb the ladder in a significant way then that would be a big win. If we have another shit year and say win the spoon, then that would be a potential career killing move.

Not to sound negative, but the more senior players that were out injured, the better we looked this year. I still think we have way too many 23-25 year olds who are far too light on, or don't have a tank, or aren't fast and don't have other exploitable traits like speed or evasion so it just makes them easy for the opposition to play against, easy to pressure, easy to tackle. We've had a lot of problems with opposition getting loose outside players because we need to bring multiple players to a contest as many don't have the traits to be confident of them winning one-on-ones.

We don't have those reservations with Wardlaw or Sheezel, Ford was a real competitor in the second half of the season. Goater, Bergman and Curtis similar competitive players as 20 year olds. We should get as much elite talent as we can get our hands on but I think our change in fortune revolves around getting more impact out of the 2nd and 3rd round players. Scott has been great this year. Phillps and Powell are close to being very good players if we can get them to play their good footy for longer periods but if we do a trade for pick 1/Reid and get Sanders then it is going to have a significant impact on the midfield mix.

it will depend on who we can land during the trade period.

CCJ - trade
Cunners ret

If we go close to the above, shit is getting rather real. al clarko said he wanted players for the pointy end of the season. Not sure any of those I've mentioned would be up for that.
Not suggesting those I mentioned as tradeable would have much value fwiw.

Reckon * could have an interest in Taylor.

The side that won was missing LDU, Zurhaar, *Logue, *Comben, Wardlaw and McDonald and yes McDonald, the day he's picked to start on the bench is a good day. Is still best 22 for us.

I actually think Turner was the reason for the win yesterday thanks to that behind play before the break. Delist.

Nah. Genuinely prefer him over Lmac.
I agree was a turning point, and Clarko was grinning ear to ear at half time, loves a bit of rough stuff. Rowell's was a dog act and needed to be called out for what it was.

Opinion there taz, or 'opinion'?
The former. Nothing gonna get announced until after the BNF in mid September for the obvious ones.
The not so obvious ones will be after trade period.

Did something happen to George? I thought he was back on the track in June, if he hasn't had a setback I would expect a full pre-season, even if he protected from full contact for a while longer.
I think OP meant he's coming back on to the main list from the LTI

Yeah, he is still counted as a senior player, the LTI list just allowed us to take someone else in the MSD, we have to make room on the rookie list to keep Hansen.

I feel terrible suggesting this but Luke’s injury may set the stage for an honourable exit? It’s pretty clear we can survive and in fact look better without him on the park
Assuming you don't mean LDU, the other one is contracted until 2026, isn't he?

Just for the record that Future 3rd was tied to Freo's ladder position not ours and we got back a 3rd rounder tied to Port ladder position.
So it's roughly a slide of 11 spots in the 3rd round at this point.

What about this Sellars kid in the Vfl worth getting on the list ?
I like the look of him but I feel like between Zurhaar, Ford, Curtis, Stephenson and George, undersized marking forwards are a position we're well covered for. If only 4 of those guys can fit into the side, we're wasting someone's talent.
