VFL 2023 Swans Reserves

Truslove has been copping a bit, but last reserves game Carlton had around ~650 games of senior experience, we had less than 50.
Hard to have a gameplan/structure when you have so little continuity/experience.
The two new draftees, McAndrew & Amartey (assuming he plays after his cameo tonight) should help.

My strongest criticism of Laidler was they he just kept doing the same thing over and over (eg Sinclair #1 ruck, instead of McAndrew).
At least Truslove has tried a few things (eg Magor to the HBF so he could get a bit of ball, instead of freezing his ass off in our fwd line).
I wouldn't mind lining up in the sort of formation listed above.
I hope Vickery will be on the wing, where I thought he had his best game of the season and no problem with Magor moving fwd again now that we have a few more targets around him rather than poor old HKK at 188cm being our main KPF.
Mitchell & Corey Warner are two watches for me as well. I think both have shown promise and hopefully that will continue.
Konstanty should now have enough games under his belt that he starts to show why he was a first round pick.

After the crapfest of tonight looking fwd to this game.
+1

Great summary of my feelings also Hairy. Also looking forward to the first win of the season.

Reserves should be fired up since they're plenty of spots in the top level up for grabs imo. I really want to see the likes of Stephens, McAndrew etc dominate.

Tale of two halves in that quarter.

Buller looked lively.

Hall-Kahan's kick to set up the second Morrison goal was sublime, but not a fan of him throwing the bottle back at the water boy without looking. Just take a few seconds to give it back to him. You're not Mick Jagger mate and the water boy is not your dog.

Good quarter. Amazing what happens when defenders defend well and forwards pressure.

Really liking Buller, looks threatening every time it's near him. Magor's reading of the play has also been a highlight.

Stephens been hard and tough, just not very effective.

Sorry dad.

Looks good so far ...few other players having a crack. I can see why Rankin was rated at draft time shows some glimpses of real class. MacAndrews tap work is exceptional again. Mitchell as well has looked very composed.
Nice to see them stop and look for an option if required rather than the kamikaze play of the seniors.

Nice having a decent target up front.

so true.. previously we’ve had HHK being double teamed.

Arnold and Buller have fitted in well.. No accident that Edwards is having a better game. Arnold is both a capable tall and was the organiser of the Lions VFL backline.

Hahaha Dubai Quacker is there anyone else at Claremont we can nick?

I’ll let you know next time Don Pyke is in town at a Claremont game*.

* for those that don’t know - Don Pyke played 50 odd games for Claremont & is still close to the club. Whether it had a bearing on the recruitment of Gus & Buller, I don’t know.
