We’ve stopped to a walk.

As seems to always happen to the Swans ressies.

Most of the good things that happened in the second half revolved around McAndrew Sheldrick and Hugo.

Not much else to take away really.

Gould has been good. Tried to provide a spark while also marshalling our defence.

Some Gotta do there time I know but I can’t see Gould being happy running around in the 2s again

Reckon he will be off at years end
I’m still not sold on him personally.

he’s a straight line runner prone to being wrong footed

Sad to say I think he’s a bust.
Our VFL player of the year, in a team that made the Prelim, made the VFL team of the year, in a position that takes time. Would have debuted easily if he wasn't a KPD.

Haven't watched the game but we seem light on inside ball winners. With Roberts our AFL sub, Sheldrick is our only pure AFL listed inside mid. It will be an opportunity I guess for guys like Warner jnr, HHK, Magor and Sheather to develop their inside games but if we struggle to win ball, it might be a long season ahead for the VFL team.

On a related note, might indicate we will look very hard at Caiden Cleary, a noted ball winner at under age level.

Astute comment - and it really showed today.

Warner Jr, Sheather and Rankin are, at this stage, not high possession getters. HHK looks good at half forward, but not sure he’s a legitimate midfield prospect near-term.

And the first year kids are raw.

Sheldrick looks like he could play AFL now. But I’m not sure any of our other midfield prospects are even close.

This years team is a lot shorter on experience compared to last year. I think this is a bit of a transition year/s.
We lost so much experience last year in the senior team, and it was needed to go, which resulted in a lot of players on our list this year with 0 AFL games. Guys like Lewis Taylor had loads of experience but he was never going to crack into the AFL team. That is a major loss of experience. I think our reserves will struggle for a while yet because we will only bring in more in the next draft.

Very true.

I’m just looking at it from the viewpoint of “who could step into the firsts if we suffer a few injuries?”

In the mids, Sheldrick appears the only viable option from todays game.
