Not really a valid long term strategy for our Darcy, I would think. Seems to be slipping down our pecking order.
Not necessarily.
Pretty much took all preseason and basically most of the year to throw his various injury worries.
He went into the PF & GF without any injury and did fine.
Darcy should be able to set himself for a good preseason and be ready round 1.
You can't have enough good defenders to step up when needed.

It would be good to Rope him in. Just tell him It's A Wonderful Life in Brisbane and he'll be waving goodbye to the Bombers through the Rear Window. I just hope he doesn't get Vertigo with all the air travel.

I'm sorry, I'm very tired
He’d only be clowning around if he didn’t realise the lions are The Greatest Show on Earth.

Are we talking about James the man from Laramie? I believe he lives near the bend of the river just near the shop around the corner there, where his buddy Harvey also lives. Don't mind me I'm the man who knew too much.

Great idea, and let's move Charlie into the backs, Andrews into the fwds, and Bailey as a ruck.We could trade out Clugg, he's underperforming, and let's make Fort captain, he's the future of the club.
While we are at the discussion of change, Lester to replace Fages as Head Coach :$

I'm pumped to have Doedee onboard, for mine plays similar to Tom Stewart (GEE). Will give the back 6 a great amount of flexibility. If the oppo want to lock down on Harris and Payne is taking the best oppo key Fwd, Doedee can play the interceptor role.

Our back 6 looks fantastic and set for the next few years!

Geez ......... it must have just been a horrible dream ..... and Brisbane DID win the flag ..........

Or that's what they just intimated on Trade radio ........

"Take Ryan Lester, as an example, he could have left any time over recent years, but decided to stay, and now he's a Premiership player".

Did I hear that right?

And sure enough, they repeated it ........ "and now Ryan Lester is a Premiership player".

Bugger me ......... I've been miserable for over a week for no reason ......... maybe now I can bring myself to read the GF game day thread.

ps I posted this here, and not in the GF game day thread .... just in case!

Well, the Lions got their main target Doedee early so no waiting till the last half hour of trading this year.
A little bored before i go for some exercise so had a look at last years Draft & Trade period.
What did all this achieve for players chosen in relation to actual AFL games played in 2023.

Players taken early in the draft are always going to get a game especially in the lower ranked teams.
So, in the chart below i broke the National Draft up into 6 groups. The National draft had 59 selections in 2022.
Also looked at the National Draft for the last 5 years only, as young players could move clubs during and after this period.
The chart is in time order starting with Free Agency. Figures extracted from draftguru

No one beats Dodoro. Prince of the trade period. Has not lost one for twenty years.

Wouldn’t mind scouting for some midfield depth. Particularly outside mids.
There is a few to look at that might put pressure on those sitting just outside the best 22. Those rated in the 25 to 30 positions of preference. Hately, Bonner, Ruscoe, Bianco, Menegola, Bytel, Clark, and Gould. All delisted. I doubt if any of them could be anything other than back ups, but who knows? Hately might offer some insurance until Ashcroft returns.

We just need to improve the depth of our reserves for two years.

Hately is possibly an upgrade on Mathieson, purely because he is a much better runner.

Bonner or Bianco would be good half back or wing depth.

Limited footballer but if we lost Matho I would consider adding Ryan Clarke as a defensively minded midfielder in the DFA period as a break glass only.
