Hodge - Masterstroke.

Birchall - Fair.

Gunston -

Fev was a Hindenburg. Gunston was so low risk and cost us nothing.

It is BREAKING NEWS. Give it a day to blow over. At the end of the day, those who “potted” Gunston’s recruitment were proven right. Even Gunston was proven right when he “potted” himself.

Sun comes up tomorrow.

Does Jack Gunston moving on close our flag window?

Agree with this. Just plant Big O in the goal square and ruck relief for Fort as primary ruck. Allow Hipwood to roam more. I remember someone said Hipwood’s field kicking is elite.

Then Oscars opponent starts 25m in front of him and intercepts any passes to our half forwards and rebounds the ball down the other end

Game has gone a long way past planking someone in the goalsquare

Had high hopes for Gunners when we got him but in hindsight we would have been better off ponying up to keep Mcstay
McStay had a huge offer from Collingwood . He was never going to stay .
Gunston was a mistake , not a disaster ..

Not that it matters because you've been doing this boring bit all year but you do know that it's the list manager that does the actual "list management" of the club, not the coach? It's not the 1980s anymore. You can complain about the bringing in of ex-Hawks players but in the end it's the list manager that makes the calls.

I look forward to whatever player you target with this gimmick next year.

Hyperbole needs to be hyperbolic.

At least he just never gelled with the playing group rather than fracturing our culture (cf Fev) ... such as is was back then!

I don't buy into all the hand wringing about the club transferring Gunston in. As others have said, he didn't cost much and it was a shot to (almost) nothing.
Understand also he had personal stuff going on at the time and wanted to be out of Melbourne.

But, a bit annoyed about how this trade request has come about, if what's reported is to be believed. To throw in a transfer request half way through trade week, without giving anyone the heads up, while overseas on holidays.
I dunno, maybe it's accepted that this is the way things happen in footy, but in any other industry you would be seriously burning bridges by carrying on like that.
I have left jobs in the past for different reasons that were beneficial to my family (including moving interstate) but have kept people within company informed so they could plan for this as best they could.

Hence Lionheart saying we should’ve ponied up to keep McStay; I mean it’s not as if the money the Pies are paying him are exorbitant and i bet you wouldn’t get close to his calibre of player entering his prime on that sort of money elsewhere; just a dumb decision not to retain Dan.

I have absolutely no inside knowledge at all, but the vibe I got was that while Collingwood's offer was compelling financially, even if we'd come to the party $ wise he'd have preferred to return to Victoria.
